Taylor Ryan Neese

Taylor Ryan Neese was born June 29, 1985 to his loving and devoted mother, Cary Gourley Shaw. Taylor was raised in Spring, Texas where he enjoyed growing up on the ball field. Baseball was his passion, along with hunting on his family’s ranch in Boerne, Texas, which he considered home. Taylor spent countless hours on the ranch, building fences, hunting axis deer, and enjoying the outdoors, which he truly loved. He was a true animal lover, and rescued his three precious dogs, Buddy, Daisy, and Clover. They were his best friends and their love for him was immense. He was a firefighter in North Carolina with the Waxhaw Fire Department, where his obsession with helping others and adrenaline rushes grew. He was a daredevil to the fullest, and he loved the thrill of his fire calls. Taylor moved to Huntsville, Texas where he was employed with Texas Department of Criminal Justice at the Ellis Unit. He started on nights where he made many friends on 2-2 card, was trained to be an excellent officer by many long time officers, and took pride in every shift he worked. Taylor moved to day shift working in the GRAD department in May 2016, where he met the love of his life, Layna who works for UTMB. Taylor and Layna were instantly connected, and he took on Layna’s daughter, Morgan as his own. In October 2016, they learned they were expecting their beautiful daughter, Aubrey Kate. Taylor and Layna were married June 13, 2017 in a simple ceremony with their daughter, Morgan by their side. A short 13 days later, Aubrey made her entrance into this world, and Taylor was instantly in love. In September 2017, Taylor made a move in his career to the Safe Prison department at the Ellis Unit, where he worked with some of the finest officers around. They truly made his last months of working at Ellis some of the best of his career. He was a devoted officer, who took pride in his job, his reputation, and his integrity. His word was his bond no matter what. Taylor unexpectedly went home to be with our Lord, November 24, 2017, leaving behind his devoted wife and two beautiful daughters, his loving mother, his precious sister, and countless other relatives and friends. Taylor was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Evelyn Gourley, grandparents, Jim and Yvonne Gourley, and Donald Neese. He is survived by his wife, Layna Neese, his daughters, Morgan and Aubrey, his mother, Cary Gourley Shaw and husband, George, his sister, Tara Neese, his grandmother, Shirley Neese, and countless other relatives. Taylor’s absence will leave a void that nothing will ever fill, but he’s at peace and with our Lord. The family has set up a fund in Taylor’s honor dedicated to supporting his beautiful daughters, Morgan Amelie and Aubrey Kate, for the years to come.
