Sheri Lea Singleton Meeker

Sheri Meeker was born May 24, 1960 in Houston, Texas. Surrounded by her family, she went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2007 at her home in Montgomery, Texas. Sheri is survived by her husband Steve Meeker, son Randy Meeker, daughter Holly Meeker, grandson Blake Daniel, and her parents Glenn and Jeannine Singleton all of Montgomery, Texas. She is also survived by numerous loving uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and countless friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her twin brother Mark and her sister Deborah. Sheri grew up in Houston, Austin and Conroe. She graduated from Conroe High School in 1978. She enrolled at Sam Houston State University the following fall and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1982 and then her Master’s Degree in Counseling in 1987. While attending Sam Houston, Sheri & Steve met, fell in love, and married in 1980. They were both active in Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship at Sam Houston, leading that ministry for two years. Sheri & Steve both began their teaching career at Montgomery Intermediate School. The family moved to Seattle, Washington in 1989 where Sheri was given an opportunity to work in a counseling ministry. While in the Seattle area Sheri was a counselor in private practice and also lead counseling ministries at a large church. She was granted a special ministries license by the Assemblies of God. Upon returning to Texas in 1997, Sheri taught psychology at Montgomery College. She also served as a counselor at two schools in Conroe I.S.D. In 2001, Sheri was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. She fought this disease bravely and valiantly until the Lord called her home. She was used by God in powerful ways to impact the lives of everyone she came in contact with. Her positive spirit, sharp wit, and perky smile will be missed but long remembered by everyone she touched. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 10th at 2 p.m. at The Ark Family Church, 450 Humble Tank Road in Conroe. All arrangements entrusted to Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, of Montgomery, Texas.
