SHARON GAIL BEAIRD 10-02-1944--10-13-2011 She was born Sharon Gail Pounders on October 2, 1944, to Floyd L. Pounders and Lenzie Lee (Crawford) Pounders in Angleton, Texas. She resided in Clute, Texas the early years of her life until family bought a house and property in Houston County, a few miles East of Crockett on Highway 21. Sharon Gail Beaird was born October 2, 1944 and went to our Lord on October 12, 2011 at her home in Huntsville, Texas, after a lengthy illness. She married Lester H. Beaird on August 15, 1960, and they celebrated their 51st. anniversary in this year. Sharon was a stay at home mom until both sons were in school, and then began schooling to become a nurse. This education process continued during most of her working career, culminating with a B.S. degree in nursing in 1992 from Sam Houston State University and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. During her approximately 26 years as a nurse, she always favored being where the action was, concentrating on trauma, surgical, and intensive care nursing. Much of her career was in management of surgery/recovery units, and intensive care units. Her career culminated with an injury in early 1998, at which time she was the evening shift Hospital supervisor, managing all facets of the HMH operation, in addition to nursing staff. Sharon is survived by husband Lester H. Beaird, Sr.; two sons, Lester Jr. of Katy and Steve of Huntsville; daughters in law Terry Beaird of Katy and Andrea Beaird of Huntsville, Texas; four granddaughters, Haley Beaird, Leslie Beaird, Madison Beaird, all of Huntsville, and Erin Beaird of Katy; brother, Leroy Pounders and wife Christy and mother-in-law, Elva Beaird of Palestine, Tx. Sharon was preceded in death by parents Floyd L., and Lenzie Pounders; father-in-law W. P. Beaird, and brother Lloyd Pounders. Visitation will be from 6 PM to 8 PM on Friday, October 14, 2011, at the Sam Houston Funeral Home in Huntsville. Funeral service for Sharon Beaird will be at 10 AM on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at the Huntsville Church of Christ (Highway 30 West). Graveside service will be Saturday, October 15, 2011, 2 PM, at the Bobbitt Cemetery, in Houston County. Directions are as follows: take State Highway 21 East from Crockett approximately 16 miles to FM 227 West (toward Grapeland). Go West approximately 2 miles to Bobbitt Cemetery, on left.
