Richard Lee Reickenbacker

Richard "Rick" Lee Reickenbacker was born in Houston Texas April 3, 1965 to Donal Lee Reickenbacker and Hazel Ann (Tanner) Reickenbacker and passed away Wednesday, February 22nd at his home in Willis. As a child, Rick loved to ride his go-cart, among many other things. He enjoyed tending to the chickens and rabbits every morning before school and was a huge lover of life in general. Richard was a giver and never expected anything in return. As a young man, Richard gave his life to the Lord. Richard was saved and baptized at Peach Creek Baptist Church in New Caney. He also loved horses and got great enjoyment out of teaching his nieces and nephews how to ride and take care of the horses. As Richard got older, he loved fishing and going hunting with his little brother Jimmy whenever he could. He also enjoyed cooking and going on shopping trips with his sister, Stacy. Of course, Rick always had to get him some little something; most of the time it was something to do with Scooby Doo. If you caught Rick in the house watching TV, it was probably Scooby Doo. Rick so loved to mow the yard. Any chance he got to ride the lawn mower; it was a great day. To know Richard, you would know that the small things in life meant the most to him. Richard adored his nieces and nephews. He would often call his brothers grandchildren his own grandchildren. Richard would check up on the grandchildren almost on a daily basis. Richard was able to work with his brother at a manufacturing company as a machine operator. To Richard, going to work to be with his little brother was great. He loved going to work, just so he could see his brother. When his sister, his niece Kayla, or his nephew Brandon got sick or was a little down, Rick came to their rescue to try and make them better. He didn't always know what to do, but one thing he was sure of... a big hug would fix almost anything. So many great things can be said about Richard, but the biggest thing is he loved God and his family. Richard has rejoined in mom Ann and his stepdad David in heaven. They are probably sitting on a creek bank fishing. Rick is survived by his father, Donal Lee Reickenbacker; sisters Stacy May and Bobbie Hargrave; brother Jimmy Reickenbacker and his beloved nieces and nephews. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 3rd at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis. Visitation with family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service at 10:00 am. Rev. Michael Hunt will officiate.
