Ray Kenneth Hill

Ray was born in Center, Texas lived his childhood through adult years in the north side of Houston, and from 1985 through his end days in Montgomery, Texas. After attending James Hogg Jr. High and Reagan High School in Houston, he enlisted and served proudly in the United States Navy from August 4, 1952 to August 3, 1960. While serving at Robb Field and on the USS Conway, he was classified as a Seaman- BM3 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Navy Occupation Service Medal. He was honorably discharged and returned home to Houston to start his life long career with Sears, Roebuck & Co. He had a work ethic that is difficult at best to find in this day and age and he instilled that in his family and his coworkers. He was a man of his word – honesty, integrity and hard work defined him. His vast knowledge about any variety of topics would astound most people and his willingness to always lend a helping hand to those in need will always be remembered by those who love him. As a jack of all trades, he could fix almost anything electrical or mechanical, grow an amazing garden, rebuild an engine, weld, hunt, fish, build a house, perfectly manicure the lawn, pour concrete, play softball in the backyard, shoot hoops in the driveway, build a go-cart, play Barbies and baby-dolls, and tell a bedtime Bear Story that would entertain any age. Of all the things that he knew how to do so well, what he did best was love and take care of his family. He spent so much of his time making sure that everyone was taken care of. This love and compassion extended to well beyond just his family. Anyone who spent time in his home, knew this love. He was an encourager, a selfless giver, and a role model for anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Sandra Hill of Montgomery, Texas; Son and daughter in law, Terry and Dayla Hill of Cypress, Texas, daughter and son in law, Rhonda and Greg Gilbert of Montgomery, Texas, daughter and son in law, Donna and Michael Goetz of Tomball, Texas; and daughter Hope Hill of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren, Scott Hill, Sarah Hill, Travis Gilbert, Gerald Gilbert, Ashley Wixted, Maddison Murphy, Brenna Wiggins, Drake Pinard, Kennedy Pinard; great grandchildren, Shelby Hill, Conner Perez and Grayson Murphy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Coyle Brice, Jr., and Cecil Hill; sisters, Dorothy Norris and Eddie Beatrice Audas and brother Coyle Brice Hill III. He will be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas on Tuesday, August 16, 2016.
