Phillip James Yorek

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing Phillip James Yorek , a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Phillip was born to his parents Joe James Yorek and Eunice Nowak Yorek, December 5, 1933 in Anderson, Texas. He shared a loving marriage with his wife, Dorothy Flowers Yorek, for an incredible 71 years. Phillip dedicated 50+ years to his career as Forman at Owens Handle Company, in Conroe, TX, his expertise in the manufacturing industry made him a reliable, dependable employee and his positive impact on other employees made him an unbelievable asset for the Owen family. He always wanted to learn and to challenge himself with learning all the operations of the plant and he did this with great tenacity. Phillip always made time for this children, and attended many football games and band events for them. He was a resident of Willis for more than 40 years before building his retirement home in New Waverly, Tx for the past 30 years. Phillip was an avid hunter and fisherman, he loved the outdoors and loved to travel for hunting and fishing and traveling with family and friends to many of the states in the US. Phillip was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic church and a member of the Knights of Columbus in New Waverly for pretty much his whole life. He loved helping out at the Lenten fish frys that was put on the Knights of Columbus. He also loved to cook bar-b-que for the 4th of July events at Owens Handle Company. He was always busy doing something he loved people and always had a smile on his face. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Flowers Yorek, Daughter Penny Cantrell and husband Robert Cantrell of Spring,TX; Daughter Kim Childress and Husband Buddy Childress of New Waverly, TX. Granddaughter Heather Salazar and Steve Salazar of Oceanside, CA; Granddaughter Lindsey Shulz and Doug Shulz of New Waverly, TX ; Grandson Eric Willis, Granddaughter Summer Yorek of Amarillo, TX and Grandson Logan Schneider of Lewisville, TX. Great grandson Anthony Hodges; Great- granddaughters Savannah Salazar and Soliel Salazar, Great-grandson Zaden Kinnear, Ayden Shulz and Ryland Shulz. Many nieces and nephews and numerous relatives and friends. Mr. Yorek is preceded in death by his Son Phillip Steven Yorek, Granddaughter Misty Raven Yorek Kinnear, his father Joe James Yorek and his beloved mother Eunice Nowak Yorek. His brothers Marion Yorek and Steve Yorek. Serving as pallbearers Poncho Viniarski, Tim Adamik, Mike Kilgore, Cliff Szymczak, J.D. Seigle, Joe Creppon, Joey Pavelock, Michael Pavelock. The family would like to thank Hospice 365 Team and Nurse Andrea Rogers, Aide Adrian and Nurse Tawny and Chaplain Monica for taking great care of our husband and father during a difficult time. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday June 11, with Rosary following at 7:00 pm by the Knights of Columbus, at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis, Texas. A funeral service will be conducted by Father Kim at 11:00 on Thursday, June 12 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Waverly, Tx.
