Oneal Perry

Oneal Perry was born to George and Allie Perry on November 28, 1934. He was the oldest of five born to this union. He confessed Christ early in his life and earlier this year he renewed his relationship with Christ. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, one brother George Perry, Jr. and one grandson Timmy Oneal Freeman. He worked forty years as a Construction Foreman for H.A. Lott Construction Company in Houston and Huntsville, Texas. He worked in a significant role in building many of the high rise buildings in Houston, Texas and the building of the college library and college dormitories for Sam Houston State University of Huntsville, Texas. After his retirement, he returned to Huntsville to operate Perry’s Tire Shop. As owner of this shop he fixed many flat tires and entertained his customers because he simply had a way with words. If you needed a tire or one fixed, Mr. P was the one to call on, and he never turned anyone away. He loved western movies and he often affectionately called himself “Josey Wales.” He also loved CNN news and watched it daily. He always said, “When you are going down for the last time, say “Mayday, Mayday, Mayday!” Mr. Perry you have landed safely from your flight that was heaven bound. Oneal folded up his tent, Saturday morning, May 24, 2014 and moved to his heavenly home. He will always be remembered and loved as our “Hero,” and for his zest for life and family. He is survived by his loving family which includes wife Luberta O. Perry; five daughters from a former marriage to Emma Lou Oliphant-Douglas; Patricia Ann Phlegm (Michael) of Huntsville, Texas; Rev. Anne Perry Warren (Samie) of Woodlands, Texas; Charolyn Fay Levias (Oscar); Sharon Kay Fisher (Milton) both of Huntsville, Texas; Vernell Perry of LaMarque, Texas; one son Oneal “Rocky” Kirby of Houston, Texas and three stepchildren of Huntsville, Texas; two brothers, Walter Perry(Esther); James Perry(Georgia) both of Houston, Texas; one sister, Ruby Faye Curtis of Dallas, Texas; one beloved aunt Ethel Lee Sanches of Midway, Texas. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A wake will be held Friday evening, May 30, 2014, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. He will lie in state Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with service to begin at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Midway, Texas. Dinner will be served after Interment at First Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 1530 10th Street, Huntsville, Texas.
