Mary Kathryn Youngblood

Mary Kathryn Youngblood was born on June 5, 1932 to Leon and Bertie Williams in San Augustine, Texas. She peacefully passed away on July 28, 2019 in Katy, Texas, surrounded by her family. She graduated from San Augustine High School in 1949 and attended Stephen F. Austin State University where she met and married the love of her life, Everett D. Youngblood. She later graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in elementary education. She taught for 20 years in Huntsville ISD at Gibbs and Stewart Elementary. In her free time she enjoyed traveling, spending time at the family farm in East Texas, annual trout fishing in Missouri, and family time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary Kathryn as an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Huntsville, the United Methodist Women, and the Board of the Week-Day Ministries for children. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Huntsville Garden Club. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and infant son. Survivors include her three sons: David and his wife Terri of Katy, Richard and his wife Betsy of Katy, and Robert of Huntsville; five grandchildren: Scott Youngblood and his wife Jennifer of Sugarland, Katie Poland and her husband John of Katy, Brent Youngblood and his wife Amy of Katy, Kelly Starr and her husband Drew of Katy, Julie Fuda and her husband Frank, Jr. of Katy. She is survived by nine great-grandchildren: McKinlea, Kennedy, and John Poland III; Abby Youngblood; Frank Fuda III, Olivia, and Vincent Fuda, and David and Daniel Youngblood. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Eula Hendricks, Merle Youngblood, Sandra Youngblood, and Jean Youngblood and many other family and friends. Visitations will be Tuesday, July 30 from 5 – 7pm at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. The Service will be held at 10am on July 31st at the First United Methodist Church of Huntsville with the Rev. Ellen Willett officiating. Interment will follow at 3:30pm at the historic McMahan Chapel Cemetery in Sabine County, Texas with the Rev. Nick Sholars officiating. Services are under the direction of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Pallbearers include Brent Youngblood, Scott Youngblood, Drew Starr, Frank Fuda, John Poland, and John Youngblood. Honorary Pallbearers include Jim and Marsha Smith, Dennis and Patsy Ann Reed, Don and Mary Yates, Jessica Pipkin, JoAnn Holloman, LeeAnn Wakefield, and Joyce McLaughlin.. Memorial donations may be made for the First United Methodist Church, 1016 Sam Houston Avenue, Huntsville, TX 77320.
