Mary Ann Hoot

Mary Ann Brown Hoot of Huntsville Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior February 19, 2017 surrounded by her family in her home. She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard Nelson Hoot Sr., son Tiger Abram Hoot; parents Susie Roberta Smith Brown and Earnest Brown; brothers Howard Earnest Brown and James (Jimmy) Delaney. She is survived by her four sons, Leonard Nelson Hoot,Jr, wife Kelly, Terry Cole Hoot Sr, wife Catherine, Rodney Bruce Hoot, Darrell Wade Hoot, wife Kristy, daughter Rhonda Ann Hoot. Mary also known as “Nana” had 16 wonderful grandchildren; Brandi Hoot, Leslie Pulido, husband Jorge, Amy Hoot, Ashley Hoot, husband Brandon, Sara Freemen husband Corey, Dusty Hoot, wife Kristal, Terry Cole Hoot, Jr., Emily Hoot, Megan Hoot, Cody Hoot, Dustin Bookout, Josh Sellers, Tyler Phillips, Lane Sellers; brother Glen Delaney and wife Kathy; and sister Susie Olivarez and husband Danny. Mary graduated Huntsville High School then moved to Jasper, Texas and graduated from Pineywood Business College with an executive secretarial diploma. During this time she worked as a Teacher’s Aide for 1st grade. She married Leonard in 1959 at Riverside Baptist Church, moved to Houston, Texas and lived for a few years then returned to Huntsville in 1972 and worked as a medical receptionist. She was a freelance writer of a variety of subjects; poetry and also published in books of American poetry. She also attended SHSU studying psychology and studied and finished with the United States Academy of Private Investigation Division of Probe, Inc., Beverly Hills, California. Mary was a lover of knowledge; she clipped everything from recipes to politics, filed everything, loved crossword puzzles and always started with 3 at night time, started with easy and worked up to the Nationals. Reading was one of her favorite things and to say she had read thousands is an understatement. Favorite Books from the Bible Proverbs-chapter 31 verse 10-3l; Psalms- chapter 27 verse 4. Chapter 23 Nana was such a protector of her kids and grandkids, she had added: Please protect all our children from this worldly place. Bless our church so we Christians can have a place to praise you and worship you. Help us Lord to be ever watchful so we will be prepared for your coming. Lord keep our hearts full of love and compassion for one another. These blessings I ask in my name and if it be they will- Amen. When I’m around someone or others talking about things I don’t approve of, in my mind I repeat Psalms Chapter 139 Verses 23-24” Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts; and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Her morning prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for this day, Thank you for letting me be alive to live it. Please help me not to disappoint you, thank you for all your gifts and blessings, the great, the small, the known, the unknown. Dear Lord be with all others according to they will. If I need to help someone, give me the wisdom and the means to do so. Thank you for being my Savior, my salvation, my healer and my father Amen Visitation will be from 6-8 PM February 21, 2017 at the church. Services for Mary Ann Brown Hoot will be held at Oakhurst Full Gospel Church in Oakhurst, Texas Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 1:00PM. Graveside Service will be held at the Hoot Family Cemetery on the property of Leonard Nelson Hoot Sr. created by his wife Mary Ann Hoot, in memory of the love he had for his family. A gathering for friends and family will be provided with lunch by the Oakhurst Full Gospel Church in Oakhurst Texas after the graveside service.
