Mardell Jane Van Eman

Mardell Jane Van Eman was born on March 17, 1934 and went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 19, 2018. She was born in Webb City, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest Van McGrew and Wilma (Alberty) McGrew. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Don McGrew, Bill McGrew, Earnest Van McGrew, Jimmy Ray McGrew and her sister, Gladys Mae Smith. Her only living sibling is her sister, Bernice Guthrie. The love of her life, her husband, Edward preceded her to heaven following their 62nd anniversary. Mardell is also survived by her children Pamela Jane Myers and husband, Dale; Mardella Oretta Nooner and husband, David; Patricia Ann Howard; and Katrina Maree Sassin and her husband, Michael; grandchildren: Chase Myers, Katy Tyler and husband, Joe, Gordon Bledsoe, III, Amber Buscallero and husband Daniel, Kristen Leach and fiancé, Skye, Chance Howard and wife, Linney, Amanda Sassin and Michael Sassin, Jr. ; great-grandchildren: Savannah Tyler, Ty Tyler, Makinzee Howard, Preslie Leach, Jonah Leach, Ericka Buscallero and Zachary Buscallero. Mardell loved children all of her life. She helped her widowed mother raise her younger siblings. She was surrounded most of her adult life by her children, all the neighbor’s children and many she took care of for working parents in West University and in Sugar Land. She was a phenomenal artist, an excellent seamstress, and an amazing cook. Mardell retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Wynne Unit mailroom on June 30, 2004. Mardell spent her remaining years beside her beloved husband until his death. Pallbearers are Michael Sassin, Michael Sassin Jr. David Nooner, Gordon Bledsoe, Joe Tyler, Dale and Chase Myers. Viewing will be at Cook Springs Baptist Church at 09:00 am Friday, August 24th with services to follow at 10:00 am at Cook Springs Baptist Church with Brother Robert Nichols officiating. Internment will be at the Cisco City Cemetery in Cisco, Texas. Donations should be made to the Cook Springs Baptist Church, 1936 State Highway 75 North, Huntsville, TX 77320. The family appreciates all the loving care given by the staff of the Memory Care Unit MRC Creekside to Mardell for the last 5 years and wishes to thank all of the staff..
