Linnie E. Grimes

Linnie E. Grimes January 1925 – March 2017 On January 21, 1925 in Huntsville, Texas, a baby girl was born to Willie and Virgil Ellisor; that same life left this world to be with her Lord on March 4, 2017. Linnie grew up in Huntsville Texas and graduated from high school during World War II. After graduation she went to Houston Texas to contribute to the war effort. She went to work for the Houston Ship Building Corp. in the Personnel Department. When the plant closed, she went to work for Humble Oil Co. in the Employee Relations Department, and there she spent eight good years. At that time she left the working game to become a fulltime wife and mother; and she decided to move back to Huntsville to be near her mother and father, and raise their son. They found a place on Mockingbird Lane where they built their dream home and spent many happy years. Linnie went to work for TDCJ in the Record and Business Office, retiring in 1986 with twenty years of service. She began to travel, joining the A.A.R.P. travel club. She went on many trips and met a lot of people and saw lots of places. They belonged to and enjoyed Bell Telephone Family Campers, enjoying many years of travel in their motor home, meeting other campers, making lasting friendships. She was a fan of the Houston Astros and never missed a game on TV. Yard work and gardening was always a hobby and therapy (as she called it). She enjoyed cooking for special occasions like Christmas and Thanksgiving, where she was always fixing something special. Linnie was a life time member of the First Baptist Church. Leaving behind is her much devoted and loving husband Cecil; son John and wife Melissa; several step-grandchildren; two sisters Ruby Brandy and Mary Hemby; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM will 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas, with Bro. Reagan Cooksey officiating funeral services at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in the chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. Interment will follow at Brooke Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas.
