Lawrence Eugene Sechelski

Lawrence Eugene Sechelski, the loving husband of Judith Wingo Sechelski, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at his Pasadena, Texas home, surrounded by family on July 23rd, 2015. He was 65. Larry was born and raised in Navasota, Texas to parents David and Margaret (Busa) Sechelski on October 24th, 1949. Upon graduating high school, Larry joined the United States Navy where he served as Boilerman on the USS Hornet and USS Epperson. Larry was aboard the USS Hornet on its recovery mission of the Apollo 11 space capsule in the Pacific Ocean, on July 24th, 1969. After serving in the military, Larry enjoyed a 33 year career with Armco Steel Arco Chemical and Lyondell Chemical where he worked as a control room operator in Channelview, Texas. Recently, Larry had committed his time during retirement to building his and Judy’s retirement home in Montgomery, Texas. Larry is remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, avid fisherman and faithful child of God. Larry is survived by his wife, Judith Wingo Sechelski of Pasadena, daughter Tina Stark and husband Tra of Baytown and their children Nikolas, Timothy and Natalie Stark; daughter Julie Billings and husband Chris of Dayton, and their children Jade and Elizabeth Billings; and step-daughters Jennifer and Jamie Wingo. Larry is also remembered by his siblings: Bobby Sechelski and wife Gloria Macias, John Sechelski and friend Jan O’Neill, Dorothy Malek and husband Joey, Jeanny Lawrence and husband James, Cecelia Pearson, Diane Villarreal and husband David, Susie Sechelski; aunts Anna Mae Verzurk and husband Steve, Lucille Burzynski, Margaret Peters and Verlyn Busa; and uncle Harold Wisnoski as well as many loved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Busa Sechelski and his father, David Sechelski. The Sechelski family will hold a funeral service at First Baptist Church of Montgomery on Monday, July 27th, 2015 at 10:30 AM. The funeral service will be led by Pastor Wes Faulk of Memorial Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas. Visitations will be held on Sunday, July 26th from 6-8 PM and Monday, July 27th at 9-10:30 AM. After the service, the family will host a reception at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Hall at 12 PM. Larry will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Church Cemetery in Stoneham, Texas.
