Joyce Faye Hodge On October 27, 1944, a bright-eyed smiling baby girl was born to Mable Greeno and Nolan Hodge in Trinity Texas. They named her Joyce Faye. Joyce accepted Christ at an early age attending Mary Chapel Baptist Church in Trinity. She later moved to Huntsville where she attended Warren Chapel United Methodist Church until her health began to decline. Joyce attended public school and graduated from Trinity High School. She later moved to Huntsville where she began working for Sam Houston State University as a pastry chef. She provided beautiful cakes and decorated cookies along with many other tasteful sweets to thousands of students and staff for more than 30 years. From football treats to banquet cakes and breakfast bakes, her contagious smile and friendly spirit made home away from home for several students passing through the university. Not only did she bake, but she taught many the joys of taking pride in what you do. A touch of sweet love in what you bake can make all the difference in one's day. As well as being an angel to those at the university, she was an angel to many more. She cooked, baked, and cared for all. From family to friends, neighbors and neighborhood kids to the church congregation, Joyce never let anyone be or go away hungry. Nor did she turn her head to someone needing shelter. Anyone that crossed her path left knowing she was kindhearted and true. Joyce was a rare gem, unique like a diamond that will be missed. She had a love for the blues music that everyone around her knew. From "The Thrill is Gone" to "Down Home Blues" the fragrance of the food and the sound of the music filled the air. She brought joy to the atmosphere. On September 18, 2021, Joyce took her last breath and entered into a peaceful sleep. From earth to heaven, she left on the wings of an angel. Preceding her in death were her mother and father, Mable Greeno and Nolan Hodge; Sister, Mary Roberson; Brothers: Timothy Mosley, Nolan Anthony, and Wayne Hodge; and grand-daughter Jasmine Hodge. Those left to cherish her loving and kind memories are Husband: David Ray Cotton; Sons: Erroll Hodge, Sr., Kevin Hodge, Sr., and Kerrie Hodge; Sisters: Joyce Anthony, Jennifer Marshall, Judy Anthony, Janis Anthony Griffin, JoAnn Mosley, Jewel Rolling and Elisha Cartwright; Brothers: Michael Hodge, Curtis Anthony and Kenneth Rolling; Aunt: Alma Tucker; Special Daughters: DeAbra Hodge and Trina Hodge; 12 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. You left us beautiful memories; your love is still our guide. Although we cannot see you, you will always be by our side. The family will receive friends from 5pm till 9pm on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas.
