Johnny Lee Kibby Johnny Lee Kibby was born May 22, 1927 in Latexo, Texas to George Washington Kibby and Lou Ella Kibby. He left this earth for his heavenly home on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the age of 85. Johnny is survived by his life-time love and wife, Lorene Kibby of Riverside, TX; sister, Florence Johnson of Magnolia, TX; daughter Betty Gorrell and husband JT of Huntsville, TX; son Johnny Wayne Kibby and wife Lunette of Huntsville, TX; son George Kenneth Kibby of Riverside, Texas; son Roy Neal Kibby and wife Debbie of Riverside, Texas; daughter Joyce Ellington and husband Steve of Huntsville, Texas, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and treasured friends. Johnny was predeceased by his parents, four sisters, three brothers and grandson, Jeremy Ellington. As a young man, Johnny served in the U.S. Army. He worked very hard at various jobs to support his family of seven. He worked for Holly Mining Company in Riverside for many years. He retired from TDCJ after 20 years of service there. He loved his Lord and served as a deacon of Riverside Baptist Church and Northside Baptist Church. During his years at Riverside Baptist, he served as song leader, Training Union Director, Sunday School Director, teacher and youth leader. While at Northside, he served as teacher. Johnny was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved to play games such as 42, Mexican Train, Wahoo, Yahtzee and Solitaire. He could compete with the best! But, his greatest love was his family. There was nothing that he would not have done to help every member of the family as well as every friend he had. He was so very proud of each of his five children and made sure each of them knew that. He was a real “Daddy” in every sense of the word. He will be missed very much by everyone who was privileged to know him and love him. Johnny’s family will receive friends Tuesday evening, September 18, 2012, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, Huntsville, Texas. A celebration of Johnny’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Reagan Cooksey officiating.
