James William McMullen James W. McMullen, 91, passed away the morning of September 3, 2010. James was born on November 30, 1918 to John Sterling and Eva Mae McMullen in Lufkin, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife Clemmie, his mother and father; brother Joe McMullen and sister, Sterlynne McMullen. James is survived by sons, Jim McMullen, Ken McMullen and wife Alva Lee, Phil McMullen and wife Nancy; brother, Robert McMullen and wife Billie Jo; sister-in-law Gladys McMullen; grandchildren Patricia Matthews and husband Randy, James McMullen and wife Ginger, Kim Korte, Tim McMullen and wife Abigail, Misty Mandujano, Jamie Morris and husband Marcus; eleven great-grandchildren with #12 due in February. Services will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of New Waverly. Interment will follow at Madisonville City Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Friday, September 10, 2010, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. James was an amazing person and willing to do anything for anyone. He was a devout Christian, a faithful companion to Clemmie for 57 years, a loving father and grandfather. James was a veteran and served 2 years in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a Corporal in the Military Police. After serving in the Army he bought a Humble Oil Company Service Station and operated this for 10 years. In 1965 he moved his family to New Waverly and he began a Formica business in Huntsville which he operated for 20 plus years. James devoted himself to his church. he was Sunday School Director at West 14th Baptist Church in Houston for 10 years. He was a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church in New Waverly for 38 years. James longed for a better place, the way he lived his life reflect the blessed assurance of Heaven. We were all blessed to have him in our lives and he will be deeply missed.
