Harold Dale Ramsey

Harold Dale Ramsey was born in Salt Gap, Texas on May 1, 1947 to J.L. and Gene Ramsey. He left this world to go on to his heavenly reward on September 17, 2023. The Ramsey family moved to Huntsville, Texas in 1961 and Harold’s parents went to work at the Ellis Unit. Harold attended Huntsville High School and graduated in 1966. He then went to work at Stewart & Stevenson in Houston until he was drafted into the US Army. He was honorably discharged in June of 1969 and returned to work at Stewart & Stevenson until 1984. Harold then moved back to Huntsville with his family to raise his two children, Nicole and Jake, and started his career with the City of Huntsville as the Fleet Services Superintendent until he retired in 2006. Harold lived a full and rewarding life. He had a deep faith in God and found great peace in the fellowship he shared with his church family. Harold enjoyed being outdoors especially working with horses, team roping with friends and family, traveling with his wife, playing golf and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Harold valued the many friendships that were developed over the years from his high school days, his working career, rodeo and fair involvement, and everyday encounters. Harold could be a serious man, but he had a compassionate heart for his family and friends and an uncanny sense of humor even while battling his illness. He could bring a smile to everyone around him, as well as the doctors and nurses caring for him. Harold was preceded in death by his parents J.L. and Gene Ramsey, first wife Donna and infant daughter Elise Renee Ramsey, in-laws Donald and Betty Kinsey, brother-in-law Alan Kinsey, and in-laws Mathew and Marlene Nelson. He is survived by his wife Nanette Ramsey of Huntsville, former wife Erlene Ramsey of Rusk, the mother of his children, daughter and son in-law Nicole and Ken Holland of Huntsville, son Jake Ramsey of Huntsville, grandchildren Jake, Sharon and Paige Holland, brother and sister-in-law Kent and Peggy Ramsey, niece and husband Wendy and Larry Graves, niece and husband Tracy and Tim Taliaferro along with numerous grand-niece and nephews. The world was a brighter place because of our Harold. We have lost a gem and a hero here on Earth, but Heaven has gained another angel. You can rest in Heavenly peace at last, and you will be missed more than words can express. We love you now and always. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice. A visitation will be held on Wednesday September 20, 2023 at 9:30 am, with services beginning at 10:30 am at Northside Baptist Church on FM 980 in Huntsville, TX.
