Ellen “Sue” Morris Peters Ellen “Sue” Morris Peters, of Huntsville, Texas, went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2013. Ellen was born in Warrenton, Virginia on March 28, 1935 to Calvin and Frances Morris. Ellen was raised by her grandparents Joseph E. and Betty Fletcher after the sudden death of her mother before her first birthday. Ellen attended Madison College in Virginia where she met and married Richard Peters. She graduated from Richland College, the University of Texas at Dallas with a B.S. in Psychology and Special Education. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Education from Southeastern Oklahoma University with honors. Ellen enjoyed teaching and loved her students. She was a Resource teacher in Dallas, Plano and Pottsboro and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Ellen was active in church since her childhood. She taught Sunday school classes, bible studies and was very involved with The Christian Women’s Club and First Baptist Church of Huntsville. She was a member of her beloved Golden Rule Sunday School Class and served on several committees. The Souper Cards and Games Group were very dear to her. Ellen and her husband, Richard also served in a missionary support program in South America. Ellen loved to travel and to entertain. She was known for her generosity and compassion for her fellow man. She had incredible stories of love and determination. More than anything Ellen loved her family and she enjoyed every moment with them. They will remember her as a caring and strong woman. She was always available for family or friends to offer unconditional love, support and prayer. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her. Ellen is preceded in death by her husband Clair Richard Peters and her beloved son David Alan Peters. Ellen is survived by her son Steven Peters, spouse Sherri; daughter in law Jackie Head Peters, spouse Hudson Hudgins; grandchildren Dalyn Peters Hillman, spouse Scott, Michael Peters, J.C. (Jack Clair) Peters, Chelesy Williams and BreAnna McCormick; great grandchildren Corbin, Guhnar, Karlee and Lena; special cousins Valorie Koogle, spouse Grayson, Melvin Nelson, spouse Teresa; special friends J.J. and Willie Head; and extended family in Pennsylvania Virginia, Ohio and Colorado. Ellen held her relatives and friends close to her heart and loved them all dearly. Most have heard the story of her cat, “The Pudd” who was her inherited and most beloved companion till the end, never leaving her bedside. Special thanks to Pat Oliphant and her very special care givers, Charlotte Johnson, Betty Humphrey-Mills, Darlene Tubbs, Tyera Tubbs and Helen Tucker. These beautiful women not only cared for her with love and compassion but were her sisters in Christ reading the bible and praying with her. The family will receive friends Saturday December 14 at 10:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 11:00 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Huntsville, Texas.
