Bobby Coleman Montgomery

Bobby Coleman Montgomery, of Richards, Texas, passed from this life and to his heavenly home on Monday, May 19th, 2025. Bobby was born on September 27, 1939, in Richards, Texas to Henry Montgomery and Dessie Montgomery. He was the last and remaining child of Henry and Dessie. He is survived by his wife of almost 68 years, Patricia Hoke Montgomery, of Richards, as well as one son, Gary Montgomery and his wife Cindy, and two daughters, Gaylynn Idom and husband Bud, and Gayle Saffle and husband Dave. He is also survived by grandchildren who he loved dearly, Nate and Cassandra Saffle, Jacob and Ashley Saffle, Ben Saffle, Zach and Taylor Saffle, J.C. and Erica Idom, and Jamie and Drew Brown. Bobby loved when his great grandchildren, Noah, Dylan, Cole, Andrew, Brantley, Wyatt, Lucas, Emmy, Elena, and Olivia came by to see him. Bobby is preceded in death by granddaughters Kimberly Idom and Terri Idom. Bobby had a kind soul and loving spirit that let you know that you were loved. He touched many lives throughout his days here on earth. Bobby loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was a dedicated deacon and member of Union Grove Baptist Church for years. He led worship for many years, taught many Sunday School classes, chaperoned youth camps, and visited countless times to people in the hospital. He loved his community and was there to help in whatever was needed. Bobby worked as an industrial union insulator for Campbell Insulation for 40 years before retiring in 2000. He enjoyed retirement, but he never slowed down, always had something on his “honey do list” to complete. He also enjoyed taking care of his cattle, especially riding around looking for new calves that were due to be born, and spending time with his wife Pat, whom he met in elementary school. Whenever you saw Bobby, you saw Pat. They loved spending time together just sitting on the front porch or riding through the pasture. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 10am, followed by a funeral service at 11am at Union Grove Baptist Church in Richards, TX.
