Funeral services for Betty Lou Jean Woods Colley Callaway will be Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 10:00 AM at McAdams Chapel and graveside service immediately following at McAdams Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, June 10, 2013 from 5:500 to 7:00 PM. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. Mrs. Callaway passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. Betty Lou, or lovingly known as “Sister” to her family, was a native of Huntsville. She was the eighth of nine children. She went to school as a young child at the Crabbs Prairie schoolhouse and graduated from Huntsville High School. She retired from Huntsville Independent School District where she drove a bus and ran the high school snack bar for 20 years. She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star, Huntsville Chapter # 240 and Willis Chapter # 1017. Betty Lou loved working in her yard and tending to her animals. She was especially proud of her cattle and took pride living the ranching life, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Betty Lou is preceded in death by her parents George Washington and Edith Elizabeth Guerrant Woods, husband Travis Erbon Colley, Jr. of 26 years, Leo Allen Callaway of 33 years, son William Travis Colley, Sisters, Alma V. Avritt and Jennie Lee Simmons Matthews, Brothers, E.C. Woods, Rodge Woods, S.O. Woods, Sr., Leonard Woods, Marion Woods and Alvin Woods. Survivors include her daughter Phyllis Colley Campbell and husband Huey of Huntsville, son Stevie Colley and wife Terri of Huntsville; Stepson Robert A. Callaway and wife Paige of Nederland, daughter-in-law Pam Colley Koehl of Huntsville, stepdaughter-in-law Marilyn Callaway of Colorado; grandchildren Travis Ross Colley and wife Virginia of Lufkin, Clayton Colley and wife Rebecca of Huntsville, Courtney Campbell Luper and husband John of Huntsville, Whitney Campbell and fiancé Randy Harper of Centerville, Jason Colley of Huntsville, Derek Colley and wife Lesley of Willis and Aaron Callaway of Nederland; Great grandchildren, Eliana Colley, Lilly Colley, William J. Colley, and Campbell E. Luper and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The family would like to say a special thank you to Alice Larry who was Betty Lou’s devoted caregiver.
