Dea. Willie Al Pruitt

Deacon Willie Al Pruitt, affectionately called "Doc" was born June 13, 1953 to the late Willie Hubbard and Doris Jean Pruitt of Montgomery, Alabama. At the guidance of his grandmother, Al joined Bryant Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. However, it was in the 90's that he developed a more personal and intimate relationship with God and joined Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church where he served faithfully until he relocated to Texas. Under watch care, he and his wife joined Kingdom Harvest Church of God in Christ before finding their current church home at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon until he departed this life on May 28, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents Willie Hubbard and Doris "Tiny" Pruitt, his grandmother Hersey Smith, two brothers Ronnie Pruitt and Willie Frank Smith, and his sister Rhonda Pruitt. He leaves to cherish his memories a faithful wife of 47 years, Shirley A. Pruitt, a loving and devoted daughter Minister Altonnia "Trice" Straughter, his dedicated son-in-law Effray Straughter, Mack Wilson, a nephew whom he raised, a sister Sheryi Pernell, a brother Daryl Pruitt, Winfred "Teeny" Bass (Helen) a faithful lifelong friend, 5 grandchildren: Virginia Latrice Straughter, La' Kirk Straughter (Jasmine), Kaliey Owens, Nicholas Straughter, and Kaliah Straughter; 3 great-grandchildren Katorian Stevenson, Malasia Brown, and Chase Straughter, 7 sisters-in-law: Brenda F. Paul, Brenda Jean Collins (Tommy), Linda Howard (Mike), Debra King (Donald), Tonya Brown, Keleskia Hambrite (Marvin), and Rolanda Wilson; 7 brothers-in-law: Willie Wilson, Jr., Isaiah Wilson, Robert Wilson (Benny), Herron Wilson, Jimmy Wilson, Fredrick Wilson (Harriet), Casey Wilson; extended family Alondra Templeton, Gabriella Solomon, Shalynda Pettway, Deshia Jackson (Veronica), Paris, A'Zariah, Josiah, Shiquita Arthur (Dennis), Denajah, Zyiah, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be Saturday, June 6 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, Huntsville, Texas, with services following immediately after.
