Mary Sarkis Samarneh, 94, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by all her children and family members on September 9, 2021 in Huntsville, Texas. Mary Samarneh was born on January 1, 1927 in El-Rameh, Palestine, to Sarkis Tchoperyan and Melya Khoury. Mary married Zaid Sa'd Samarneh on November 20, 1949 in El-Husn, Jordan; they were married for almost 56 years when Zaid passed away in 2005. The couple had six children who survived her. She was best known for her cooking, vegetables gardening and planting variety of roses and flowers. Mary loved needlework including knitting, crocheting and embroidery. She made special sweaters for all her children and grandchildren. She designed and sewed clothing for the family. Mary was a devoted wife, wonderful mom, grandma, and great grandma. She was a great friend to so many. She was kind, patient and generous. Her proudest moments were the birth of her children and their graduation from college. Mary is survived by her three sons: William Samarneh and his wife Gayle Boettcher Samarneh of Huntsville, Walid Samarneh and his wife Joumana of Houston, Joseph Samarneh and his wife Wesam of Houston; her three daughters: Haifa and husband George Owais of Jordan, Abir of Houston, Areij and husband Rami Marji of Houston. Mary is also survived by her fourteen grandchildren: Shadi, Mona, Waseem, Zaid, Ghadeer, Wael, Joseph, Lana, Lara, William, Christina, Basil, Dana and Laith, as well as seven great grandchildren: Issa, Wael, Sophie, Natalie, Julie, Juniper and Jordan. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Zaid Samarneh, her father Sarkis Tchoperyan, her mother Melya Khoury; brothers Livon Tchoperyan, Nizar Tchoperyan, and Antone Tchoperyan; Sisters Arsiak Vartinian and Lucy Tchoperyan. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren: Zaid J Samarneh, Joseph W Samarneh, William Pano, Basil Marji, Waseem Owais, and Nour Owais. The family extends its appreciation and gratitude to her caretaker Ms. Mukhtaram (Mira) Huseynova; also the nurses and staff of Harbor Hospice for their compassionate care and service. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 PM, Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park in Huntsville, Texas. The funeral liturgy will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1323 16th Street in Huntsville, Texas at 11:00 AM under the direction of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Mayes Addition of Oakwood Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas. Memorial condolences may be made to the family at www.shmfh.com.
