Martha Meek Skinner Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Martha Meek Skinner, born in Huntsville, Texas in 1937, to Jack L. Meek and Dorothy Mae Whitley Meek, passed away on April 28, 2022 in Waxhaw, North Carolina after a long and well-lived life. Her parents and her husband, James Warren Skinner, precede her in death. She is survived by her daughters Laura Crawford Rich (Mark) and Carrie Leigh Crawford Glenn (Matt), her son Craig Hayden Crawford (Charlotte) and step-daughter Elizabeth Skinner Mewborne (John). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kelsie Rich, Jack Rich, Hayden Crawford, Julia Mewborne and Nina Mewborne. Martha was a graduate of Huntsville High School, class of 1954, and Sam Houston State University where she earned her teaching certificate in 1957. She taught for over forty years in public schools in Texas, Arkansas, Florida, Guam, and New York. Martha loved her students and influenced hundreds with her caring approach and sense of humor. She was an avid reader, who cherished her books. Martha also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and was always eager for a game of cards or game with the family! She treasured her grandchildren. They brought her immense joy and they all adored their "Nana." She was a wonderful mother, good friend to many, a great advice-giver, dog lover and a world traveler, now off on her next adventure. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at White Oak Manor of Waxhaw where she resided for the last two years. Interment will be at the Adickes Addition of Oakwood Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 4, 2022. Memorial condolences to the family may be made at www.shmfh.com.
