Larry Don McDugle Larry Don McDugle, 67, of Huntsville Texas went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 2, 2012. He was born in Clarksville, Texas on October 21, 1944. He has joined his father and mother, Hershel and Lila Bell McDugle in Heaven. He is survived by his son, Kevin McDugle, daughter-in-law Carol of Baton Rouge; his daughter, Lorra McDugle Lynch, son-in-law Toby of Montgomery; and his son, James McDugle, daughter-in-law Lorena of Montgomery. His six grandchildren William and Dillon McDugle; Jack, Maggie, and Kaysie Bell Lynch; and Luke McDugle. And one great grandchild, Garret McDugle. He is also survived by his brother Denton McDugle and sister Sharon Jansa. Larry served in the Air Force for four years active duty and two years inactive; he attained the rank of E4. He was a member of the Harris County Sheriff’s Reserves for three years. He formally served with the University of Texas police force in Houston at the medical center operation. Larry joined the Huntsville Police Department as a patrolman in 1974 and served there until retirement. For the past 15 years, Larry has worked for the Sheriff’s Department under Victor Graham and Clint McRae. Along with his love for the community of Huntsville, he has served as the commander of the American Legion Post 95 for many years. The city of Huntsville has been a tremendous part of Larry’s life and he has taken personal pride in the safety of his community. He was honored with the Huntsville Shooting Range named in his behalf. Larry was given the Lifetime Achievement Award from the 100 Club in 2010 for his 40 years of service in law enforcement. Along with many certificates, trophies, and awards, Larry was respected and loved by many. Larry McDugle was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, mentor and friend. Captain McDugle will be missed and loved. Daddy, with tearful eyes we watched you slip away but we will treasure our time forever. No words or tribute could ever do you justice because of who you are and what you have done. We love you Dad! A memorial service will be Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Services will be held at the Walker County Storm Shelter/Hearts Museum. Celebration of Larry’s achievements and life will be held after memorial service.
