November 21, 1944 - January 26, 2021
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Ann McFarlin. She passed peacefully at home on January 26, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. She was 76 years old. The daughter of Leonard and Mary (Bean) Ross, Carol was born in Claremore, OK. She married the love of her life Tommie A. McFarlin on January 1, 1963. After Tommie graduated Oklahoma Military Academy and OSU they embarked on a life of travel and adventure with a 27-year military career. Carol was a homemaker who cared for her home and family with love and grace. A devoted wife, mother, and friend, she treasured her children and raised them well. She especially loved being MiMi. Grand-mother, great grandmother and beloved aunt, she was treasured by them all. Carol was an avid gardener and crafter, always sharing new plants and craft ideas. Anyone whom she has ever fed knows that she cooked her way into many hearts. She was a volunteer all through her life - in her military community, church, school and children’s activities including Girl Scouts. When she and Tommie retired back to Oklahoma their home became a gathering place for many family celebrations. Everyone was always welcome. Carol was a loving spirit whose humble kindness and generosity shone bright to those around her. Always there, always ready to help. Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Tom, her parents, brothers Lloyd Ross and Donald Ross and Sister Jeanette (Ross) McDonald. She is survived by her children Sherri Welsh (John), Renate Crocker (Will), Cindy Burdett (Clint) and Jason McFarlin; grandchildren: Caleb, Josh, Jenn and Chris Welsh; Caroline and Katie Burdett, and Anna McFarlin; great-grandson: Dylan Welsh; brothers Leonard Ross Jr. (Daisy), and Andy Ross; sisters Marty McLain and Vicki Mason, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thank you to all of her caregivers at MD Anderson for their compassionate treatment and Encompass Hospice who came into our home and helped us to care for her. A Celebration of Life will be held for Carol on May 15, 1 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, Claremore. We will be dressing vibrantly and celebrating this wonderful woman who was a part of many lives. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 317 S. Davis St, Claremore, OK 74017.
