Austin Cross

Austin Reed Cross died January 27th, 2024 at his home in Conroe, TX. His funeral service will be held Saturday, February 3rd, at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 20850 Eva St, Montgomery, TX 77356 immediately followed by a celebration of life at Monty’s Lighthouse, 15250 TX-105, Montgomery, TX 77356 Austin was born on December 5th 1986 in Norman, Oklahoma to Laura Spitzer and Richard Cross. Austin spent most of his childhood and adolescence in San Antonio, TX, where he dominated soccer fields across the city, winning several city championships. He grew up with a huge, loving, Lebanese family that taught him how to dabke (traditional line dance) and a few of the most important (somewhat inappropriate) words in Arabic that he used daily. Immediately following high school, Austin joined the Oil & Gas industry. With his brother, Dustin, and father, Richard, they started Wellbenders Directional Services, where he worked as the Operations Manager for 15 years. His work took him to Pinedale, Wyoming where he lived for 3 years and Midland, TX where he helped open a new operating branch of Wellbenders. Anyone who knew Austin, knew his work was his passion, and he loved what he did. Austin Married Kristina Morgan in 2014 in Cancun, Mexico. He soon found himself with a new passion, raising his two beautiful daughters, Kylee and Ally. After a long day of work, Austin would look forward to Kylee and Ally running outside to the driveway. Austin would blare the song “Cruise” where they would dance away in the front yard. Following their impromptu dance session, he would take them inside and play-wrestle with them, so they would know how to “beat up boys when they get older”. He always ended the day his favorite way: with a bedtime story and nighttime prayers. He was a passionate Houston Texans fan, traveling all over the United States and even as far as London, United Kingdom, to cheer on his favorite team. Austin Cross is survived by his children, Kylee Marie Cross and Ally Reed Cross; parents, Richard Cross, Laura Spitzer, and Vincent Mery; brothers, Dustin Cross and Blake Mery; sisters; Michella Lorino and Nicole Cross and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
