William R. "Bill" Fallin

William (Bill) R. Fallin, Jr. passed away of natural causes on March 18, 2011 at the age of 89. Bill was born on October 7 1921 to parents William and Eula Fallin. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Dorothy Alaniva Fallin. He is survived by his wife, Sue Fraser Watts Fallin, sister Marjorie Terry; children: William Michael Fallin and wife Dorothy, Patrick Fallin and wife Christina Solis Fallin, Richard Fallin and wife Elizabeth, Suzanne Watts Britton Ohl and husband David, Maurice Watts and wife Carol, and David Watts. Grandchildren: Alex Fallin and Rachel Price, Caroline and Ike Fallin, Gabe and Michele Solis, Marshall Watts, Jeremy and Melissa Britton , Justin Watts and wife Katie, Rachel Watts and Josh Ickes. Great Grandchildren: Brynlee and Adella. In-laws: Marshall and Frances Fraser Strother, Mary Fraser Brown, Shiles and Rose Fraser, L. B. and Marion Alaniva Singletary, Don and Beverly Alaniva Warren. He was loved also by a large number of nieces, nephews and friends who enriched his life. He loved all of his blended family and each new addition brought joy and happiness to him. He never met a stranger, and was able to make anyone laugh with his wonderful sense of humor. Bill was a member of the 31st Bombardment Squadron of the 5th Bombardment Group and recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. After enlisting in the Army Air Corps on January 28, 1942 he quickly worked his way up to Major and was a distinguished leader of B-24 Liberator long distance bomber squadrons, receiving 10 air medals while flying 46 missions in the Pacific Theatre. Bill was an avid golfer, member of the San Angelo Country Club and Elkins Lake Country Club. An accomplished player of many logic based games including 42, spades, and bridge. An active Member of UHBC and served in many capacities including Adult Men’s Sunday School Teacher, and volunteered for Good Sheppard Mission for many years. Bill attended two years at Texas A&M before WW II. A friendly rivalry ensued when his three sons graduate from the University of Texas and a nephew and grandson graduated from Texas A&M. Bill lived in Jacksonville Tx, Farmington NM, Midland Tx, San Angelo Tx, Huntsville Tx, and briefly in Richardson Tx.; was a data processor for Great Western Petroleum, City of San Angelo Data Manager; Owner Manager of Mark’s Bar-B-Q, Data Manager of Nash Construction; and Data Manager of Capro. After retirement in 1994 he devoted more time to his precious family, volunteering and golfing. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 5 – 7 pm at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. Services will be at University Heights Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 10 am. Burial will follow immediately at Oak Wood Cemetery in Huntsville.
