Virgie Ann Griffith

VIRGIE ANN (KENNEDY) GRIFFITH (June 04, 1948- January 01, 2018) Virgie Ann (Kennedy) Griffith, 69, entered Heaven on January 01, 2018 at 6:09 PM CST, following a long illness. She was surrounded by her family and several friends as her illness was healed and she was renewed according to the promises of the Holy Scriptures. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, sister and daughter. She is survived by her mother, Katherine Pierce, sister Janice Lee Phillips, husband of nearly 38 years William U. Griffith III, daughter Rachel Weeks, step-daughter Elizabeth Villarreal, stepsons Will Griffith and Mark Griffith. Also, grandchildren Haley Voumard, Ariel Briceno, Allison Villarreal, Abigail Villarreal, Zachary Villarreal, Mason Griffith, and Caroline Griffith, all of Texas and Ellie Griffith and David Griffith of Bracknell, Berkshire, United Kingdom. She is also survived by an aunt, Martha Walker of Houston, and numerous loving cousins. Virgie was a proud homemaker in retirement. She began working as a secretary at NASA Clear Lake shortly following graduation from Deer Park High School in 1966. Later she worked as a teacher’s aide, Christian Day Care worker, and then a museum staff member for 12 years at the Star-of-the-Republic Museum in the Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park in Washington, Texas. She loved visiting her children and grandchildren, reading the Holy Scriptures, cooking and baking fantastic foods and baked goods. She won numerous first place ribbons in baking contests while living in Washington County, Texas. She enjoyed family gatherings and holding her own holiday and birthday gatherings in her home. She enjoyed making things fun! Her skills at making a great house into a beautiful home with her tastes and ideas of decorating speak for themselves. She is greatly missed and will continue to be missed throughout our lives. Pallbearers include Tom Griffith, Mark Griffith, Mason Griffith, Ernest Villarreal, Bradley Jackson, and Leon Cummins. Alternate pallbearers are Kenny Foley and Billy Pierce. Minister Billy Pierce will conduct the services at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas at 10:00 AM Friday, January 5, 2018 as well as graveside services at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, Texas at 2:00 PM on the same day. Visitation is scheduled at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM.
