Troy Allen Townsend

Troy Allen Townsend, age 56, formerly of Lebanon, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 7, 2023 at home in Montgomery, TX with his wife by his side. Troy was born on December 8, 1966 in Lebanon to Edwin Townsend and Reva Townsend Riggs. He grew up in Lebanon, attending Seven Oak Middle School and graduating from Lebanon High School. He completed his higher education at Linn Benton and Oregon State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Products. Shortly before receiving his degree, Troy met his forever love, Lynn Barten, on a blind date. The couple was married on September 5, 1992 in Cody, Wyoming. After securing employment with Willamette Industries Albany Paper Mill, where he worked as a process engineer and shift foreman for nearly 8 years, Troy and Lynn started their family. It began with the birth of their son, Steven, and was followed by the joyous arrivals of daughter, Tara, and son, Michael. In late 1999, Troy made the bold decision to join Beck Actuators as an industrial sales engineer. This new endeavor meant relocating the family to Doylestown, PA, Vancouver, WA, and ultimately their current home in Montgomery, Texas. Troy’s job as an engineer allowed Lynn to homeschool the family and for all of them to join him in his travels throughout the country. Troy gave his time and resources selflessly to others. He was full of life and most people considered him a friend after their first time meeting him. HIs passions included hunting, fishing, golf, conservative issues, traveling, and watching sports, especially his son’s college golf tournaments. His story telling and humor will be forever in our memories. Troy loved his Savior Jesus Christ so we are confident that we will see him again. Troy is survived by his wife, Lynn, of Montgomery, TX, children Steven (Oyuki) Townsend, of The Woodlands, TX, Tara Townsend, and Michael Townsend, both of Montgomery; grandchildren Kipsyn and Ava; parents Edwin (Faith)Townsend of Sunriver, OR, Reva (Edgar) Riggs of Jefferson, OR; sister Tammara (John) Christensen of Madras, OR. He is preceded in death by his grandparents. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11 AM at Riverfront Community Center in Albany, OR. Lunch will be provided after the ceremony.
