Thomas Wesley Brake, Jr.

Thomas Wesley Brake Jr. stepped into heaven on August 9, 2015 at his home in Huntsville, TX with his daughters by his side. Thomas (Tom) was born in Huntsville, TX to Tom Wesley Brake and Lois Wiggins Brake on May 12, 1932. He graduated from Huntsville High School and married his high school sweetheart Beverly Gwynne Ellis of Boswell, TX. They lived in Houston for a while before moving to Alvin, TX where they worked and raised their family. Tom retired from Monsanto Chemical Company to begin his life long dream of building homes. Brake Construction was began where he built many homes, sub-divisions, apartment complexes, & businesses in the Alvin and surrounding areas. After 30 years, he retired again to their farm in Huntsville Where he enjoyed raising cattle and traveling with friends across the United States. He is preceded in death by his father, Tom Brake, mother, Lois Brake, sister, Margaret Fulton, Lucille Taylor, wife Gwynne Brake, daughter, Lois Brake & second wife, Mary Reeves Brake. He will also be remembered with awesome memories by his family and friends including daughter, Beverly & husband, Joe Saladino of Friendswood, TX, daughter Julie Brake & husband Ron Wilson of Seattle, WA. Grandchildren Joey Saladino Jr, Sarah Barham, Jennifer Parker, Wesley Saladino, Brennen Jinks, & Brandon Patterson. Also his dog, "Buddy"! Tom remarried in 2004 to Mary Reeves of Riverside and spent wonderful times together traveling and living the good life spending their days together until her death in 2013. Her children and grandchildren were a blessing to him as he loved them and enjoyed their company. Tom served as a deacon of Heights Baptist Church of Alvin TX as well at Second Baptist Church of Huntsville. He loved serving The Lord and was involved in many areas of the church. He loved to tell others about Christ and was never at a loss of words. Tom was a kind, compassionate, gentleman that loved God and is rejoicing in heaven with him now. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Building Fund at Second Baptist Church, 2517 Sam Houston Avenue, Huntsville, Texas 77340. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 in the chapel at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas.
