Thom Woodward Holzshu Sr.

Thom Woodward Holzshu Sr., a resident of Montgomery, Texas, peacefully passed away at the age of 80 on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023. Born on July 6th, 1943, in Pitcarin, Pennsylvania, Thom was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Ruth Holzshu, and father, Thomas Woodward Holzshu. He was raised by his loving parents alongside his brother, Paul Holzshu, and his sister, Susan Schaaf. Thom was a beloved father to three children: Stefanie Wisenbaker, his daughter, and Thom Holzshu Jr. and Christian Holzshu, his two sons. He was also blessed with seven grandchildren who lovingly called him "Tutta": Grant Wisenbaker, Cameron Holzshu, Kendall Ahrens, Morgan Holzshu, Tyler Holzshu, Cason Holzshu, and Abby Holzshu. His devotion to his family was evident to all who knew him, but Thom also had a deep passion for sports. From a young age, he fell in love with baseball and excelled as a pitcher, achieving numerous no-hitters throughout his career. Even after graduating from Gateway High School in 1961, Thom continued to play baseball and eventually earned a tryout with the California Angels. Apart from baseball, Thom was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed following the PGA Tour. Thom possessed a competitive spirit that was always on display. As a young man, he served his country with honor as a United States Marine. He embodied the values instilled in him by the Marine Corps. Courage, integrity, hard work, resilience, and strength were qualities he consistently displayed in every aspect of his life. Eventually, Thom's unwavering work ethic propelled him to become an entrepreneur, establishing his own company, Wardane Enterprises, in 1993. He took immense pride in his business and remained dedicated until his final days. While Thom had a tenacious spirit, his heart was filled with unparalleled kindness. He lived by the golden rule, treating others with the same respect he desired for himself. This philosophy shaped his life. He cultivated meaningful relationships with those around him, as Thom had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life. His infectious personality radiated warmth, love, and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on our world. Those who knew him couldn't help but love him, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who cherished him. His legacy will endure through the countless lives he touched with his wisdom, kindness, and larger-than-life personality. We will forever treasure his generous heart, unwavering passion, and devotion to his family. As we mourn the loss of this great man, we find comfort in the assurance that Thom has found eternal peace in the embrace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. May he rest in the sweetest eternal peace, and may his legacy inspire us all to lead lives rooted in faith, love, selflessness, and grace. A memorial service to celebrate Thom’s life will be held on Saturday, November 18th at Conroe Country Club from 6pm to 9pm.
