Sue Dailey

Sue Towery Dailey of Huntsville, TX, went to be with her Lord on February 27, 2009. Sue was born in Crockett, TX, July 27, 1923 to Ruth Dean and Charles Dixon Towery, the youngest of seven children. She was the loving mother of four children, doting grandmother of ten grandchildren, and proud great grandmother of seven great-grandchildren. Sue brought her children to Huntsville in 1964 to complete her Bachelors Degree at Sam Houston State University and continued on earning her MBA. Most of Sue’s career was spent teaching English at Mance Park Junior High. She will be remembered by her former students as a wonderful reader, bringing the characters in a book to life. Sue retired in 1988. Throughout her life she shared her talented skills by creating clothes, baby blankets, doll furniture, door decorations and Christmas stockings for her family, family friends and many others in this community. In her early retirement years, Sue traveled as often as she could on tour buses with her friend, Liberty Pollard. In 2001 Sue moved to Carriage Inn in Huntsville, where she led exercise in the absence of the Activity Director, loved playing dominos and was a member of the Carriage Inn Red Hat Society. She made many wonderful friendships while she lived there. The family especially appreciates the support and friendship of her beloved neighbor, Mae Rogers, and the special services she received from Mary Jordan, Pat Oliphant and Eric Thomas. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Charles Towery, all of her six siblings, Sybil, Charles, Frank, Edwin, Bob, and Pat, her daughter, Deborah Ruth Dailey Kincaid, a granddaughter, Kelly Lynn and a grandson Ryan Garrett Dailey. She is survived by her children, Sharon Shearman and husband John of Tucson, Arizona, AZ, Anne Heartfield and husband Bob of Huntsville, TX and son, Dan D. Dailey, Jr. and wife Barbie of Huntsville, TX. Her grandchildren, Angela Dellinger and husband Bart of Seattle, WA, Alex Heartfield and wife Mary of Weatherford, TX, Chad Kincaid and wife Kristi of Houston, TX, Darren Kincaid of Montgomery, TX, Kim Dailey of Huntsville, TX ,Stephanie Dailey of Huntsville, TX and Scott Shearman and Valerie of Denver, CO. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Patience Delgado, Huntsville, TX, Kate and Lauren Dellinger, Seattle, WA, Chase, Mia, and Rebecca Heartfield of Weatherford, TX and Gareth Kincaid of Houston, TX. The family will receive friends to celebrate Sue’s life at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park Drive in Huntsville, TX on Sunday, March 1st from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Graveside services will be in Crockett, TX at Evergreen Memorial Park, on Monday, March 2nd at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Deborah Dailey Kincaid Memorial Elementary Scholarship Fund at Sam Houston State University, Sam Houston State University, Office of University Advancement, Box 2537, Huntsville, TX 77341 or the charity of your choice.
