Sheila Mary Skidmore

Sheila Mary Skidmore Sheila Mary Skidmore died June 18, 2013 after a short battle with cancer. Sheila was born in Racine, WI on December 13, 1946. She grew up in Chicago and moved to Texas in 1982. She is survived by her loving husband Gerald; daughter Lisa Csikos, husband Michael and granddaughter Michaela; daughter Lori Marwill, husband Greg, granddaughter Hannah and grandson, Colton; stepson David Skidmore and wife Sheila; stepson Steve Skidmore, wife Robbin, granddaughter Taylor Blissit and husband Scott, and granddaughter Madison. Additional survivors are sister Colleen Boylan, husband John, nephews John and James Boylan, niece Karen Hinds and their families; sister Rita Hopkins, husband Bill, nephews Tim and Billy Hopkins, nieces Mary Alsip and Eileen D’Ambrozio and their families; brother-in-law Stanley Skidmore, wife Linda, nieces Marsha Cook, Sherri Kendrick, Judith Currie and families; brother-in-law Kenneth Skidmore, wife Janis, nephew Ken Skidmore, niece Kori Schweinle and their families. Sheila was preceded in death by her mother and father, Florence Prindiville and Timothy Corcoran, and grandson Christopher Csikos. Sheila and Gerald retired to Elkins Lake, Huntsville and she became active in the community. Sheila was a member of the Elkins Lake Women’s Golf Association, the Huntsville Area Newcomers Club and Book Club of Elkins Lake. She served as a member of the House Committee at Elkins Lake, was a volunteer in the Court Appointed Special Advocates program and participated in the Meals on Wheels program. At their church, First United Methodist Church, she served as a communion steward and usher. She also co-chaired the Evangelism Committee and was a co-founder of the Friends Sunday School Class in 2008. Sheila had a special loving relationship with her grandchildren and all looked forward to summer camps at grandma’s. She was an amazing mother, mentor and a friend to all. She could light up a room merely by her presence. She will always be remembered for her cheerful and helpful attitude and pure love of life. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Huntsville on Monday, June 24 at 2:00 p.m. Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 in the Sanctuary. A private burial will follow at Forest Park, The Woodlands. Reverend Scott Dornbush will preside at the funeral service. Arrangements are being handled by Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home.
