Sandra Anna Uresti better known Aunt Sandy was welcomed into her Heavenly home at the young age at 59 on May 19, 2017. Sandra was born in Houston, Texas on August 26, 1957, while her father was attending Law School. She was the eldest daughter of the late Judge Diego & Mary Leal of San Benito, Texas. After graduating from San Benito High School in May of 1975, Sandra attended University of Texas Pan American majoring in Mass Communications. Shortly after she met the love of her life in Edinburg, Texas, Steven Edward Uresti, who was also a student at Pan American; Steve and Sandra married on September 9, 1978 at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in San Benito, Texas and later moved to Houston where they have resided the last 30 years. Sandra and Steve welcomed their one and only child Steven Edward Uresti Jr. on September 21, 1990. Steven (Stevie) was the absolute joy of her life, her world revolved around her sugar bear Stevie. She instilled important values in Steven & taught him life lessons that have made him the fine gentleman he is today. She took being a devoted wife and caring mom top priority. She took great pride in fixing them breakfast daily and dinner every evening. She worked tirelessly to make sure her family had everything they could possibly need and more. She had strong family values and Sandra and Steve would quickly become the foundation of the Leal family after the Judge and Mary passed. Sandra took great pride in taking care of her family and she did a fine job of it. Sandra starting working at the young age of 16 years old; she had an undeniable extremely dedicated work ethic. She worked at Cameron Iron, Crisis Trucking and even ventured out as a restaurant owner. Most recently she was working as an Office Manager for Costal Casting Services. Her work ethic better described as being in charge, dependable, dedicated and professional and having everything she handled immaculate ran over into her home. She was extremely organized not only in business but she had a special knack for cleaning and keeping things beautiful. Besides her outstanding work ethic being the oldest sister of 7 children she also was quite the cook. Sandra was especially known for not allowing any one to visit her home unless she could prepare a meal for them and she did not allow anyone to leave her home without a goody bag. She was a true care taker and healer when family members were sick or recovering from an injury she would nurse them back to health. She cared not only for her loved ones but Sandra had a special love and passion for animals especially dogs. Sandra always kept water and dog food in her car in case she came upon an animal that was homeless or being mistreated. She was an advocate for rescue animals and had 4 of her own dogs she cared for, that were precious to her. For fun Sandra enjoyed not only taking care of her dogs but also going out with Steve and Stevie shopping or dining, often while her boys were working she spent her weekends with her youngest brother Ramon and her sister-in-law Chris. They enjoyed many adventures out and had plenty of stories to tell on each other after an outing. Meals around Sandra’s table were famous and common. Ramon was her favorite person to prepare a meal for and hear his humor cutting jokes about the day’s events. Patsy and Sandra would do their best to spend quality time together as well. They enjoyed outings to the local bingo, shopping and an occasional meal out to just catch up. She was not just a sister but she was a precious friend who we all loved to talk to on the phone and text with. Over the years Sandra made special time with her nieces and even her great nephews who adored her. She always had a box of Stevie’s old hot wheels and the boys loved to visit Aunt Sandy’s house and play. Most every holiday and family event took place in Sandy’s home; she was the center of our family, the glue that held us together. She and Steve’s home were home to all that knew her. There are countless memories of beach trips and outings that hold a special place in our hearts now. She loved South Padre Island but most of all being with her husband and son if they were happy, she was happy. Sandra was a Wife, Mother, God Mother, Sister, Aunt, Friend, Caretaker, Animal Rescue Hero, with a soul that could be described as Heaven on Earth. Sandra had an absolute heart of gold. She touched every life she came across and left each person or animal better off than when she found them. Her generosity knew no bounds, her wisdom and compassion were unmeasurable. She lived for everyone around her. Sandra leaves behind a precious rich legacy that will live on forever and never be forgotten. Although our family chain is broken Sandra loved God and was a firm believer. As a family, we are standing in Faith of God’s precious timing, finding comfort that we will be united with our Sweet Sandy in Heaven for eternity. Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 39 years Steve Uresti, her beloved son Steven Uresti Jr., Brothers’ and Wives’ Diego & Irene Leal, Ben & Rocio Leal, Ramiro & Mary Alice Leal, Able & Terry Leal, Ramon and Christina Leal and Sister Patsy Leal. Sister in law Yolanda & Curtis Uresti Butler, Step mother in law, Lydia Uresti, Uncle Martin Uresti. God Child and Niece Monica & Rodney Twardeski, Nieces, Andrea & Andrew Krueger, Penny Nicole Leal, Amanda Leal, Brandi Leal, Michelle & David Cavazos, Norma Jean & Henry Rojas, Lisa & Eric Cooke, Nephews Diego Leal, Danny & Jenny Uresti, Chris & Theresa Garcia, Armando & Annette Uresti and a host of great nieces and nephews that she cherished. Sandra is preceded in Death by her parents Judge Diego & Mary Leal, Father in law Armando Uresti & Mother in law Emma Uresti, Bothers in law, Rudy Uresti and Tommy Shane Norman. Pallbearers: Brothers, Diego Leal, Ben Leal, Able Leal, Ramiro Leal, Ramon Leal, Nephew Rodney Twardeski and her beloved son Steven Uresti Jr. The family will receive friends from 4:30 pm till 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, TX.
