Ruth Lowe Lea

Ruth Lowe Lea born November 10, 1928 at her maternal grandmother’s farm near Neosho, Missouri to Jack and Pearl M. Lowe passed away peacefully on August 14, 2017 in Tyler, Texas. She is survived by her daughter Kristy Christensen, son in law John Christensen, her son Kelly B. Lea and daughter in law Laura Lea, daughter in law Elizabeth Lea, granddaughters, Rachel Christensen, Audrey Christensen, Kelsey Lea and Karley Lea. She is also survived by her brother in law Wally Andrews and her sister in law Madena Lowe, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley E. Lea, son Kraig Lea, her parents, Jack and Pearl Lowe, her brothers and sisters, Billy Lowe, Jane Patterson, Bobby Andrews and Bud Lowe, and her in laws Everette and Edna Lea. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sam Houston State University in 1971. In 1976 she received her Real Estate Sales License and her Real Estate Broker License in 1978. She was active in the Huntsville real estate market from 1976. She severed as President, Vice President and Secretary of the Huntsville Board of Realtors. She also served as a Director on the Huntsville Board of Realtors for three years. She was named Realtor the Year in 1985. In 1989 she joined Homes of Huntsville where she worked until she retired. Ruth had two passions; one playing bridge, and two taking photographs. At one time she was in four different bridge groups. She enjoyed the game of bridge and the camaraderie with her friends. She loved taking photographs, from her beautiful flowers to family events and friends. She always had her camera with her. She loved sharing her photographs with everyone. Ruth was a member of the Church of Christ for over 50 years. She has a strong faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She belonged to the Huntsville Study Club, Sam Houston University Wives Club and an active Sam Houston State University Alumni. Ruth will be remembered as a great woman, loving and devoted wife to her husband of 66 years, extraordinary mother to Kristy, Kraig and Kelly and caring grandmother to Rachel, Audrey, Kelsey and Karley. We will always love you Mom and will miss you, but we know you will always be with us. We know through your spiritual devotion you are now in God’s loving hands and with your devoted husband, Stanley. The celebration of her life will be August 19, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. Her burial will follow at the Mayes addition to Oakwood Cemetery in Huntsville. There will be a reception following the graveside service at the Holiday Inn Express in Huntsville. Family will receive friends before the service at 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home.
