Ruben Sanchez

Ruben Sanchez, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024, in Montgomery, Texas, at the age of 79. Born on May 26, 1945, Ruben was a man of honor, integrity, and unwavering devotion to family and community. A proud veteran, Ruben served his country with distinction in the United States Navy and the United States Coast Guard, dedicating himself to protecting and serving others. His commitment to public service extended beyond the military, as he also spent many years as a dedicated member of the Houston Fire Department. Ruben’s life was a testament to his selflessness and desire to help others, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Ruben’s heart was deeply rooted in his family. He was a constant source of support and encouragement to his grandchildren, proudly cheering them on in all their activities. He found joy in nights out with his wife, Diane, and cherished time with their dinner club friends. Ruben had a passion for gardening and took pride in maintaining a beautiful yard, finding peace and satisfaction in the work. An active member of his church, Ruben’s faith guided him throughout his life, and he remained devoted to his spiritual community, giving freely of his time and energy. Ruben is survived by his loving wife, Diane, his sister Beatrice DeLaPena, his brothers Gilbert Sanchez and Roland (and sister in law Shawna) Sanchez, and sister in law Mary Barta. Their children: son Christopher and his wife Jennifer Sanchez; son Nathaniel and his wife Christine Sanchez; and son Rodney and his wife Stacey Randall. His legacy lives on in his grandchildren, Caroline, Christopher, Chloe, Gunnar, Layla, and Easton Sanchez; Lee and Sara Williams; and Brodie, Madden, and Carson Randall, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Salome and Esther Sanchez, as well as his siblings, Lou (and brother-in-law Lee) Robles, Fred (and sister-in-law Carmen) Sanchez, Madeline (and brother-in-law Ernie) Arciniega, Alex (and sister-in-law Mily) Sanchez, brother in law Victor DeLaPena, and sister in law Bobbi Sanchez. He was also preceded in death by his son, Robert Williams. Ruben’s family invites friends and loved ones to honor his life and memory.
