Roxie Harding

Roxie Harding (Strong in her Faith) November 28, 2005 Roxie Harding went to Heaven. She was born February 22, 1921 to Ambrose and Julia Ann (Emerson) Smith in Russell Springs, KY. She taught over 35 years with her favorite grade to teach being the first grade. She retired from the Richards Independent School District in 1984. After her retirement she became a member of the Christian WomenÂ’s Club . She was also a member of the Westway Baptist Church. She was strong in her faith and very grateful for any kindness shown to her. She was a frugal ladyÂ… when her niece and nephew came to visit she would only allow each one to have one lemon drop! Her daughter said as a child growing up she had to raise her hand in order to speak because she loved to talk so much! She is survived by daughter Billie Harding of Huntsville, second mother Alta of Russell Springs, KY, two brothers; Rabon Smith and wife Sue of Russell Springs, KY and Phillip Smith and wife Pat of Stanford, KY, sisters; Alice Anderson and husband Andy of Port Heron, Michigan and Jan Zimmerman of Muncie, Indiana along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose and Julia Ann Smith, husband F. T. Harding, baby sister Mildred Odean Smith, sister Ruby Grimsley and brother Garnett Smith. Services will be held in the Chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Reagan Cooksey officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be C. W. Blackstock, Bruce Edwards, Dustin Gee, David Haley, Randy Harding and Bud Idom. Interment will follow at Farris Cemetery Under the direction of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial may be made to the San Jacinto School House Restoration in care of; Delma Shelly at 166 Dana Dr. in New Waverly, Texas 77358 or the Union Grove Baptist Church building project. Roxie and Billie want to thank all her friends, the employees of Ella Smither Geriatric Center, Home Health Care and all the people who had shown acts of kindness to her.
