Reuben Davis Simonton IV

Reuben Davis Simonton IV, age 69 of Montgomery Texas passed away July 23rd in The Woodlands, Texas after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. Reuben was born January 10, 1941 in Conroe, Texas to Reuben and Mattie Bess Simonton. He grew up in Montgomery and graduated from Montgomery High School in 1959. He served in the US Army for two years. Reuben served on Montgomery ISD school board and Montgomery County Central Appraisal District Board. He was a lifetime member of the Montgomery County Fair Association, American Quarter Horse Association, and the American Angus Association. He was a 4-H leader and supporter of the Future Farmers of America. Reuben and his family have been a beneficial part of the Montgomery community for over 170 years. Reuben owned and operated a cattle operation in Montgomery, Texas. His cattle and horses were his true passion. He later extended his cattle operations to the Kings River Ranch in Northwest Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn Thornberry Simonton, his children: Reuben Davis Simonton V and wife Marie Prigmore Simonton, Emily Simonton Jones and husband Kirk Jones, Rebekah Elizabeth Simonton, Martin Clay Simonton: Grandchildren: Clayton Lewayne Simonton, Chase Thomas Simonton, Casey Michelle Simonton, Courtney Kay Simonton, Grayson Lee Jones, Garrett McCain Jones, and Emma Reise Jones. Visitation will be held at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Montgomery, Texas on Monday, July 26th from 6-8 pm. Funeral Service will be at The Old Methodist Church in Montgomery at 309 Pond St., on Tuesday, July 27th at 10 am. Funeral Service will be conducted by Brother Calvin Beckendorf of Brenham, Texas and Eulogy by Duane Corley. Burial at New Montgomery Cemetery to follow. Fellowship gathering at Bells of Montgomery immediately following services on Tuesday.
