Patricia Pierce

Patricia Heartfield Pierce “Patsy” entered into the arms of her heavenly father on December 25, 2008. Patsy was born March 10,1942 in Center, Texas to Jerry and Blanche Heartfield. She graduated from Huntsville High School and attended Sam Houston State University and Central Texas College where she received a degree in Criminal Justice. She taught and wrote the curriculum for Floriculture at Windham School District for 17 years in both Huntsville and Gatesville. In 1990, Patsy took medical retirement due to a diagnosis of leukemia. She survived due to a bone marrow transplant from her sister, Sharon. She returned to Huntsville in 1995 and enjoyed quality time with family and friends while working part-time for Heartfield Florist until she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in April of 2008. She fought an incredible battle. She was the most giving person of herself, her time, and her love to everyone including animals, but most of all,her love of God was insurmountable. She deeply loved cooking and doing for others. She was an active and devoted member of First Christian Church where she served in many areas. Most recently she led the Prayer Ministry which she was very passionate about. She loved to sing in the choir and had the voice of an angel. Her activities were numerous including the Huntsville Study Club, Raven Investment Club, the Recipe Club, the Huntsville Beautification Advisory Board, WFCA member, Bible study groups and other social groups such as bunco/pokeno. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Blanche Heartfield, her brother, Jerry Heartfield, Jr., her grandparents, Clinton and Ruby Heartfield and William and Jewel Wyser. Also preceding her in death is her loving aunt, Grace Howell. She is survived by her precious father, Jerry Heartfield of Huntsville, her sister, Sharon Kaye and husband Denny Durbin of Panama City, Florida, her brother Bob and wife Anne Heartfield of Huntsville. Her children: Debbie Jones of San Marcos, Texas; Dan and Niecy Pierce of Arlington, Texas; Joy Cothren of Huntsville, and Jason and Amy Pierce of Huntsville. She is also survived by Six grandchildren: Chelsey, Trip, Clare, John, Carter and Morgan; four Step-grandchildren, one great step-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. “We were truly honored to be her children and sister” Services in memory of Patsy are as follows: Visitation from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home on December 30, 2008. The celebration of her life will be at 10:00 a.m. on December 31, 2008 at First Christian Church in Huntsville. Burial to follow at Mayes Addition of Oakwood Cemetery.
