Patricia Mae Callahan-McTigue Culp, 83, affectionately known as Patty Mae, passed away July 6, 2023, after a prolonged battle with blood cancer. Pat was born July 24, 1939, to Dorothy Callahan-McTigue and John Robert McTigue in San Jose CA. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Karen (Kiki) Trosclair and her brother John (Joe) Robert Weaver, her nephew Joshua Trosclair and great niece Brooke Small. Pat is survived by her husband John Culp, daughter Tracey Gordon of Montgomery TX, her son Terry Levy and wife Melissa of Broussard LA and three stepdaughters Diana Culp of Adamstown MD, Dr Wendy Blount of Nacogdoches TX, and Karen Burleson and husband Timothy of Willis TX. Together, with John, their family includes eight grandchildren, Zak Gordon and wife Dawn, Colton Gordon, Brook Levy, Jessica Levy, Taylor Levy, Gabrielle Levy, Jake Harris and wife Ashely, Rachel Lovell and husband Sage and seven great grandchildren, Bradley Gordon, Skylar Gordon, Raegan Gordon, Lillian Graham, Rosalie Graham, Aubrey Harris, Elijah Harris. In her early childhood, Pat and her mother moved to Texas, where she grew up and graduated from Roy Miller High School, in Corpus Christi TX. She married Walter Williams, and in 1962, they had a baby girl, Tracey Lynn. While married to Walter, she lived in College Station TX, he attended Texas A&M, and she took Journalism classes. Pat then married Terry Levy, and in 1969, had a second child Terry John. Pat continued to further her education in Hotel Management, including graduate studies at Cornel University in New York. While working in the hotel industry in Houston and New Orleans, she grew rapidly in her career. In the 1980s, Pat moved to Charlotte, NC and opened the Cajun Queen restaurant. It was the first authentic Cajun restaurant in Charlotte. The Cajun Queen is still operated in Charlotte by her once partners. In the 1990s, she moved back to Houston. As a woman in the food industry, she became well known, as a Director of Catering for Alonti Catering Kitchen. In 1995, she met and married John Culp, her soulmate, born also on July 24 but, in 1938. Together they opened the Kemah Bay Café in Kemah TX. John’s career moved them to Midland TX, they sold the Café and relocated. In Midland, Pat became Sales Manager for Meristar Corp (a company that operated Hotels). She worked as manager for the Midland Hilton and Towers Hotel. John’s career returned them to Houston. Meristar transferred Pat to Houston as well, she became sales manager for the West Chase Hilton. Pat retired in 2004. In 2005, after Hurricane Katrina, at the age of 67, Davis Defense hired Pat as a Project Manager to run an emergency food operation serving 2500 meals a day for the armed services serving in disaster relief in New Orleans. Over the last 27 years, Pat’s zest for life, entertainment and people led her and John on many amazing journeys, with their large group of friends in tow. There was never a dull moment when “Irish” was in the room. A memorial service for Pat will take place at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 10129 FM 1097 Rd W, Willis TX on July 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM. A celebration of Pat’s life will be at Ron’s Pub located at 1826 Fountain View Dr, Houston TX on Sunday, July 23, 2023 @ 12:30 PM
