Nancy May Penney

Nancy May Penney, 89, passed away on May 17, 2023, in Montgomery, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on May 23, 1933, in Great Bend, Kansas, to Grace Ellen Fish Dalton and Theodore Layton Harvey. Nancy May Penney was a devoted wife to her soulmate, Roy Watson Penney, for over 68 years. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lived a life dedicated to serving Jesus Christ and spreading His love and hope around the world. She worked as a missionary in Brazil, India, Ukraine, Turkey, China, Fiji, El Salvador, Peru and Mauritania. She was a co-founder of The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, a home for abused women in Pasadena, Texas. She was a teacher, HOA board leader, and she served on Presbytery committees. She was passionate and strong, and always a friend and mentor to those who knew her. Her influence will live on in all of us she touched. She is survived by her husband, Roy Watson Penney, her son Michael James Penney and his wife Carolyn Penney, and her daughter Deborah Rose Roberts Geddes and her husband Wayne Geddes. She was a proud grandmother to Jonathan David Penney and spouse Katie Penney, Kimberly Renee Alley and spouse John Alley, Joshua Charles Roberts, and Nicole Rose Kindred. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Michael Wayne Geddes and Kristen Lauren Rohde and spouse Billy Rohde. Her great-grandchildren are Caroline Alley, Charles Alley, Brendan Penney, Owen Penney, and Madison Penney. Nancy graduated from Edinburg High School, Texas. She met Roy at Sam Houston State University where she earned her Bachelors. She earned a Masters at University of Houston Clear Lake. She worked as a missionary and teacher throughout her career. Nancy worshipped at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena, Texas, First Presbyterian Church Ceres, Goias Brazil, and First Presbyterian Church of Conroe, Texas. In her free time, Nancy loved lake life. She enjoyed swimming, water skiing, and scuba diving. She loved to travel and visited 31 countries with Roy. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 10 am at First Presbyterian Church of Conroe in Conroe, Texas.
