Mona Weerts Rudiger 1938-2020 Mona Weerts Rudiger passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 7, 2020, in Montgomery, Texas. A celebration of Mona's life is scheduled for 8:00 am on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at The Meadows Park in Bentwater, Montgomery, Texas. Mona was blessed with a wonderful life. She was born to parents, Jabina and Gerhard Weerts, on November 4, 1938. She grew up on a farm in Walnut, Illinois. When she wasn't on the tractor helping her dad she was most likely at school honing her skills on the french horn, singing in the choir, or playing the piano. Early on, she played the organ for her childhood church (First Lutheran - Ohio, Illinois) and later enjoyed serving the Lord through the church choir and handbell ensemble in her home congregation. Bringing together her passion for music and her strong faith was one of her greatest blessings. In 1956, she met the love of her life (Ivan), a farm boy who grew up four miles down the road and thus began her greatest adventure. Mona was his biggest cheerleader and supporter. They shared many interests together, including golf, cards, bowling, and socializing with their many friends. Above all, the two were their best on the dance floor. Together they built a loving family of six kids and taught them by example how to love well, work hard, and support each other. She was a master at keeping everyone on track with their various activities, always maintaining a beautiful home, cooking delicious meals, and managing fourteen moves in their sixty-two years together. Mona had a special way about her. Her sweet spirit and quiet way of making others feel special endeared her to all who crossed her path, always with a smile on her face. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Ivan Rudiger; her children, who all reside in the Dallas area; one son, Mark (Stacey) Rudiger, five daughters, Michelle (Steve) Hild, Rhonda (Chuck) Bristow, Brenda (Fred) Thompson, Rae Ann (Tom) Martin, and Carla (Matt) Weaver; twelve grandchildren, Kristen (Sean) Heeney, Lauren (Tyler) Osburn, Brendon Rudiger, Garrett Rudiger, Brenson Bristow, Blake Bristow, Victoria Thompson, Abigail Thompson, Natalie (Shane) Hickerson, Lauren (Mark) Wilson, Laney Weaver, and Madisen Weaver; five great-grandchildren, Austin Heeney, Ellis Hickerson, Maisie Hickerson, Landon Wilson, and Brenlynn Wilson; sister Katherine (Leonard) Vick of Walnut, Illinois; sister-in-law Joyce Smith of Plano, Texas; brother-in-law Laverne Kranov of Walnut, Illinois, many nieces, and nephews as well as a host of friends. Mona was preceded in death by her parents, her sister-in-law Charlene Kranov, and brother-in-law Bob Smith.
