Melinda Cobb

MELINDA SUE (CHRISTIANSEN) COBB was born on March 14, 1962 in Giddings, Texas; The second youngest of five children to Harry Christiansen and Minnie (Bohot) Christiansen. She was baptized on April 1, 1962 and was confirmed March 23, 1975 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings, Texas. She graduated from Giddings High School in 1980 as the class valedictorian, where she was a Buffalo Gal. She then went on to study Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University. Subsequently, she had a successful and long career as a Purchasing and Procurement Assistant at Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), where she retired. She then continued to support the Criminal Justice system by working for Windham School District. Melinda always had a smile on her face and a can do personality. She was very committed to her love of fitness and of traveling the world. She received an achievement for 500 days of workouts at the CURVE fitness club in Huntsville, TX. Melinda was a loving mother and Me-Me (grandmother), she loved her family and would always drop whatever she was doing to help a family-member or a friend who was in need. She was always very proud of her children and all of their accomplishments no matter how small or big the achievement was. Melinda was a long-standing member of the Faith Lutheran Church and she passed her faith along through her acts of kindness and her extremely generous compassion. She established many relationships based on faith, love, and friendship. She is now transferring her membership from the church on earth to one who is triumph and has mercy. Melinda passed away in her home in Huntsville, Texas on March 3, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents and her eldest brother, Harry Ben Christiansen. Melinda is survived by her four children, Son Darren and wife Amanda Cobb of Huntsville, son Travis and wife Robbie Smith-Cobb of Huntsville, son Marcus and wife Kaci Cobb of Stanardsville, VA, and daughter Valerie of Huntsville; her eight grandchildren Payton, Texana, Michael, Jameson, Moxie, Janet, Evalyn, Blake. Melinda is also survived by her three siblings: brothers Curtis and wife Janet Christiansen, Douglas and wife Jan Christiansen, and sister Ernestine (“Tina”) and husband William Kappler. As well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Graveside services at the Giddings City Cemetery for Melinda, officiated by Pastor Colton Christiansen are scheduled for Tuesday March 14, 2023 at 11:00.
