May Thompson

Born May 17, 1923, in Indianapolis, Indiana, May Redell Thompson died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Silverado Senior Living Center in The Woodlands, Texas. She and her husband of 57 years, Bernard C. Thompson, Jr., moved from Speedway, Indiana, to Huntsville, Texas, in 2005 to live with their daughter Sharon T. Hart (husband Thomas L.). She is survived by her husband, daughter, and son David K. Thompson (wife Laura) of New Virginia, Iowa. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: N. Catherine Hart (husband Philippe E. Godfrin) of Magnolia, Texas, Derrick T. Hart (wife Angela T. Hart) of Seabrook, Texas, Colton Thompson and Logan Thompson of New Virginia, Iowa. She delighted in her five great grandchildren (Jessica, Dylan, Marshall, Travis, and Sophia). Her only brother, Clyde E. Neese, Jr., resides in Brownsburg, Indiana, as does her beloved niece Sheila K. Gray (husband Michael Gray). Mrs. Thompson and her husband were members of John Knox Presbyterian Church, Speedway, Indiana, for 40 years before joining First Christian Church in Huntsville, Texas, in 2006. She grew up in Whitestown, Indiana, where she was a Past Honored Queen of Job’s Daughters. As a young adult, Mrs. Thompson was active in Eastern Star and sang in the church choir of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. In later years, she devoted her life to caring for her family and supporting them in their many activities, as well as volunteering for 8 years at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She loved to do handcrafts, and the family cherishes her many needle-point and counted cross stitched projects. Mrs. Thompson loved to travel and especially looked forward to her annual spring and fall visits with her husband to Estes Park, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her parents Clyde E. and Pearl R. Neese, Sr., and an infant son, Darrell Lee. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 Services will be Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 11:00am at First Christian Church, Huntsville, Texas. A second service will be Friday, February 1, 2008 at 11:00am at Flanner and Buchanan/Washington Park East Chapel, Indianapolis, Indiana with interment at Bunnell’s Cemetery in Hillisburg, Indiana.
