Funeral services for Mattie Ella Smallwood, age 86 of Huntsville are set for Monday November 27, 2006 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Charlie Powell, Jr. and Rev. Wesley Reagan officiating. Burial will follow at the Farris Cemetery at West Sandy Community in Walker County, Texas under the direction of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday November 26, 2006 from 2 to 5 PM at the funeral home. The pallbearers are nephews; Ronnie Hively, Royce Hively, Donnie Robinson, Robert Robinson, Kenny Roberts, David Robinson and Gary Robinson. Mattie Ella was born September 16, 1920, the daughter of Mercer Lee and Mary Ellen Norwood Robinson in Walker County, Texas and passed away in Houston, Texas November 22, 2006. She leaves a son Darrell Smallwood and wife Janice of Houston, grandson Alan Smallwood and wife Shelly of Houston, granddaughter Shannon Lowrie and husband Clifford of Center, Texas, great-granddaughter twins Courtney and Christina Lowrie of Center, along with sister Lorine Roberts and husband Kenneth of Texas City, brother Donald Robinson and wife Zella of Conroe, and brother Otis Robinson and wife Bille of Huntsville. She also leaves sister-in-law Edith Clay of Bedford, Texas, nephew Wayne Clay and wife Arie of Bedford, sister-in-law Arnelle Camster of Paris, Texas , sister-in-law Della Pearl Robinson of Huntsville, and nieces Barbara Weatherford of Huntsville, Janice Molk of Conroe and Susan Keeton of Dickinson. Mattie spent her married life , 48 years, in Paris and Lamar County, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Paris for 20 years, worked with children in Mother’s Day Out, Sunday School and Preschool. She was preceded in death by husband Alvin Smallwood in December 8, 1988, sister Lois Hively and brother Delbert Robinson. Memorial donations may be made to Farris Cemetery Association , Farris United Methodist Church or M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital..
