Mary Emma Whitman Reynolds

Mary Emma Whitman Reynolds, 79, born to W.B. and Eula Belle Whitman on Dec.29, 1931 in Galveston, Tx., experienced full and complete victory in Jesus on April 9, 2011 as her mortal body took on immortality, the perishable became imperishable for death was swallowed up in victory. “O death where is your victory? O death where is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law, but thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved, be strong in the Lord, steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.”(1Corinthians 15:55-58) Mary lived her life abounding in the work of the Lord as she loved and served her family, church family, and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years and 8 months, Bobby Gene Reynolds; 3 children who love her dearly & purpose to carry on her legacy of faith & love - a son, Gene Reynolds and wife, Vickie Reynolds; and two daughters, Debra Reynolds Keil and husband, Don Keil; Linda Reynolds Peterson and husband Glenn Peterson; and seven grandchildren, Kimberly and Susie Reynolds, Carrie, Lisa, and David Keil, Jeanette and Matthew Peterson; a brother, Ray Freeman; sister-in-law, Inez Freeman; nieces & nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents as well as her step-mother, Vivian Freeman Whitman and brothers, David & Ted Freeman. Mary married Bobby in Houston, TX. on September 2, 1950. Once retired they moved from Houston to Elkins Lake in Huntsville, TX which has been home since 1988. They were members of Spring Branch Community Church while in Houston and are now members of Fellowship of Huntsville. Mary trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for her personal salvation. Her life of devotion to Him was evident in her acts of loving service to her family and in her church. She loved studying and applying the Word of God to her own life as well as encouraging and helping to disciple others. She loved dancing, tap dancing as a child and especially doing the jitter bug with Bobby! She loved time with her kids and grandkids who brought her such joy. She loved her “honey” and they enjoyed one another so much. She had a love for music evidenced in her high school years in the drum and bugle corp, singing in church choirs, singing with her daughters and teaching her grandkids fun songs. Visitation will be Monday, April 11, 2011 from 5:30-7:30 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home; 1700 Normal Park Dr.; Huntsville) The celebration of Mary’s life will be on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Fellowship of Huntsville Church.
