Marjorie Hansen

Early on the morning of January 13, 2014, Marjorie Harrington Hansen passed from this imperfect world to the perfect place reserved for her in Heaven at the age of 95. Visitation will be at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home from 5 - 7 p.m. January 14 with burial on January 15, 2014 at 11:00 and Celebration of Life at 12:30 at Fellowship of Huntsville Church, C.F. Hazlewood, Pastor, officiating. Marge was born the middle child of DeWitt and Myrtie Neal Harrington in Goose Creek, Texas on December 15, 1918 and grew up in Oil City, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Malcolm Bertram Hansen (Vits), whom she met while in Geology Class at Louisiana State University. Marge is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Canon and husband, Joe Ed Canon of Abilene, Inger McManus and husband, Joe Lee McManus of San Angelo, Sally Allbritton and husband, Steve Allbritton of College Station. Other family members who will feel the loss of Marge's presence are grandsons Kevin Canon, Kyle Canon, Brian McManus and wife, Julee, Luke Allbritton and wife, Kate, and Danny Allbritton, in addition to granddaughters Corrie McManus and Katie Allbritton Newton and husband, Jordan Newton. Among her many talents were her cooking skills creating magic in the family kitchen on Spring Lake. All her great grand-children Joshua and Alyssa McManus, Natalie Canon, Riley, Jace and Kendall Newton enjoyed this special attention and these delicious treats. Marge lived her 95 years with a full measure of determination, courage, loyalty and love for her family and friends and, most of all, an abiding, resolute faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. What a soldier she was in the Army of Christ! Two of her favorite scriptures were "This is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it!" and "The joy of the Lord is my strength." By these standards she lived her life. All of the family want to express the warmest and most sincere appreciation for the loving outreach given to Mom/Marge during these last challenging months of her rich life.
