Loyd Dale Hunt

Loyd Dale Hunt, 78, of Bedias, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 8, 2014. Loyd was born in Brachfield, Texas on July 30/31, 1935 to loving parents Herman and Nora Hunt. While attending Sam Houston State University, he enlisted in the US Army, serving two years and then completing his education. Soon after graduating from SHSU, he began his career with the Texas Department of Corrections. During his 25 years with TDC, he served as Education and Recreation Director, Counselor, Assistant Warden, and Warden. Following his retirement from TDC, he served as Vice-President of Community Service Credit Union and as an Adult Probation Officer for Brazos County. In addition to being a Godly, loving, and supportive father and pawpaw, he enjoyed taking his grandkids to the Old Home Place every summer, family reunions, and playing golf. He is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Nora Hunt; sisters Macie Scarborough and Grace Robertson; brothers Chester Hunt and Sammy Hunt; and grandchildren Jessica Brooks and Brandon Stelly. He is survived by his daughters Pam Stelly, Cindy Woods and husband Larry, Debi Wellborn and husband Brock, and Kim Brooks; grandchildren Steven Stelly and wife Adrienne, Cameron Stelly, Christopher Allbright, Jamie Puckett and husband Bobby, William Woods and wife Daphne, Matthew Woods and wife Megan, Brennan Wellborn, Meagan Wellborn and Maggie Brooks; great-grandchildren Landon Puckett, Merryn Woods, Evan Woods, and Liam Woods; sisters Inez Wade and husband B.W., Billie Hall, Sue Leverette and husband Joe, and Gwen Verma and husband Ray; brothers Jim Hunt and wife Sandra, John (Ikie) Hunt, and Joe Hunt and wife Shirley; cousin Mary Ellen Crawford and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Camp Peniel, 6716 East FM 1431, Marble Falls, TX 78654 or a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 14, 2014 from 2:00PM to 3:00PM with Memorial service to follow at 3:00PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas.
