Lori Kathleen Johnson McBunch Born 8-3-1990 Took Jesus by the hand on 12-15-2020 Age 30 On August 3rd, 1990 God gave us the indescribable joy and blessing of a daughter that we named Lori. Oh, my did we all love this beautiful baby. She grew and we watched her be a blessing to others as she would tell them about Jesus on many mission trips as well as her daily walk. She was the much loved (most of the time) sister and companion to her sister Jennifer. By any account they loved each other much. God gave us all the continued blessing to see her graduate with her bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University and went on to get her master’s degree from Lamar University and become a special education teacher. She had a God given talent and skill serving these children and loved them dearly. She loved her family, her friends, and enjoyed life. As a family, we cherished every moment together we could muster. She met and fell in love with Lee McBunch, who is now the son we never had. They were married on June 25, 2016. They were a precious pair that God himself had clearly put together. It was, and still is a joy for Lee to be part of our family. On September 25th, 2018 she and Lee welcomed Gentry McBunch. What a blessing Gentry continues to be for our family. So sweet, so cute, so incredibly full of life. The greatest thing a parent can ever know about their child is that they are a saved believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. At the age of 8, Lori asked Jesus into her heart and remained a strong believer in Jesus as her savior. She held firm to that all her life and did not waiver. She would tell you before she left this earth and certainly now, you better know the Lord Jesus as your savior before you leave this Earth. In short, we count it as a blessing that God breathed life into her and let Lee, Gentry, Michelle, Jennifer, and I know her as wife, mom, daughter, and sister. What a gift for us to be a part of her life. I ask each of you reading this to please pray for my son in law Lee for a peace that passes all understanding. She is survived by her husband Lee McBunch, son Gentry McBunch, father Lonny Johnson, mother Michelle Johnson, sister Jennifer Johnson Moore, brother-in-law Waylon Moore, nephew Kiefer Moore, grandfather H.W. Johnson and his wife Carolyn, mother-in-law Nita McBunch, sister-in-law Jennie McBunch and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She loved them all dearly. Visitation will be held Monday, December 21st from 5:00-7:00 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. At the family’s request, you MUST wear a mask or face shield while attending the visitation. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Down Syndrome Association of Houston or any other special needs assocoiation of your choice.
