Lorene Gertrude Bradham

Lorene “Gertrude” Bradham was born on August 23, 1929 in Old Waverly and passed away at home, with family in Montgomery County on January 27, 2016 at the age of 86. Gertrude was the oldest of five children born to David and Iola Cotton Pursley. Gertrude is preceded in death by her parents, her husband William “Curtis” Bradham, Sr., brother’s Arthur, Ervin and wife Bonnie, Howard and wife Jerene and sister, Betty Lawlis and husband John. In Gertrude’s younger years she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone. She and Curtis owned numerous businesses in Huntsville. After the passing of her husband, Gertrude continued to work at Sam Houston University until retiring and later returning to work at the Walker County Courthouse as a Records Preservation Clerk until and accident in 2006 forcing her to retire again. Gertrude is survived by Daughter, Celeste Bradham Howell and husband Doug, grandson Eric. Son William Curtis “Sonny” Bradham, Jr., grandchildren John and Tonya, great grandchildren Jayden, Roman, Adrienne, Skyla and Alex. Son David Bradham and wife Peggy, grandchildren David Bradham II and wife Ashley, Charlotte Bradham Swor and husband Chad, Tiffany Bradham DeLisle and husband Dale, Josh Hudson and wife Danielle, Stefeny Reuter, great grandchildren; David “Tripp” Bradham III, Trace, Clayton, Colton, Myranda, Chloe, Charles, Jack, Julie and Lily. Numerous nieces and nephews. Gertrude loved Church, Volunteering at the Hospital, Family, spending time with the grandkids History of Walker County, Old-time Music, Dominoes, and Fishing, traveling with AARP, Crocheting, Needle point, Knitting, working crossword puzzles and watching the dogs chase squirrels in the yard and mot all watching deer out by the lake. The family would like to thank Doctor Kahn and his staff for their care, Embracing Hospices staff and her special nurse Dawn for her care! In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made in honor of Gertrude Bradham to the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. A funeral will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in the chapel at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas, with Rev. Reagan Cooksey officiating.
