Lindsey R. Blevins

Lindsey Radford Blevins was born on January 23, 1957, to the loving parents Patricia and Harold Blevins in Barnwell, South Carolina. He was the youngest of three boys born very closely together (within 3 years), Anthony and Allan being his older brothers, and the three remained very close throughout their lives. A little later, Lindsey welcomed two younger sisters, Lisa and Stephanie, followed even later by his two youngest brothers, Chris and Jonathan. Although born in South Carolina, Lindsey always considered Alabama his true home. He spent much of his childhood there in the Sand Mountain area surrounded by grandparents, uncles, aunts, and many cousins. In 1968, the family moved to Houston, Texas, where Lindsey attended Smiley High School and formed lasting friendships. While much of the family later relocated to Huntsville, Texas in the 80s, Lindsey chose to remain in the Houston area. A skilled craftsman, Lindsey worked for many years as a carpenter, specializing in home construction and remodeling, but could craft just about anything made of wood. He was also an avid fisherman, eager to sit on the bank of a lake or river, waiting to see what he might catch. He loved spending time outdoors, especially in the woods and greenery. And like his parents, he would not be content with having to go find nature to be in, but also surrounded himself with gardens and plants until his final day. In 1994, after a profound experience of grace, Lindsey walked from Splendora to Conroe, Texas, determined to leave behind his former life. He wore the shoes off his feet during that journey before calling his family in Huntsville to bring him home. Lindsey moved to Huntsville, where he lived until his passing. Soon after this experience, he reconnected with the church, joining Fellowship Primitive Baptist in Madisonville, Texas, where he was later ordained to the ministry in April of 2000. He continued his carpentry work and also became licensed in pest control, serving many families in the Huntsville area through both trades. And he never gave up his joy of fishing. One fond memory of his was catching over 83 bass from Bedias Creek with his Daddy and brother-in-law Thomas on a fishing trip, and was more excited about how happy it made his Daddy than how many he had caught. He always got as much or more joy out of anything when others were happy. He brought his eagerness to serve others into everything he did, from his woodworking projects and furniture that he made for many family and friends, to simply being there to help selflessly. While always speaking and rejoicing in the love of Christ, there are few that lived it as plainly as Lindsey did. Lindsey entered the Lord’s blessed rest on November 10, 2025, after courageously battling cancer for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest brother, Anthony, and nephew JD Grant. He is survived by Anthony’s widow, Priscilla, and their children Paula and Dario Valdez, Olivia and Kevin Powell, and Amanda; his brother Allan and wife Patsy Blevins and their children Donald Grant, Stanley Miller, and Pamela Weiland; his sister Lisa and husband Thomas McDonald and their children Angela, Virginia and husband Paul Innes, and Thomas Aaron and wife Mindy; his sister Stephanie and husband Richard Colunga and their children Melissa Colunga and Hai Truong, Sarah and Spencer Trimble, and Elizabeth and Matthew Dengler; his brother Chris and wife Catherine Blevins and their children Emmeline, Abigail, Elijah, Asher, and Ella; and his brother Jonathan. He is survived by numerous beloved uncles, aunts, cousins, great-nieces and nephews, as well as great-great-nieces and nephews, along with brothers and sisters in the church, together with many cherished friends and neighbors. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 6-8pm at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 10am at Cornerstone Bible Church, 367 FM 1452, Madisonville, TX 77864.
